So since I recently had the Platinum freshly painted (Front End for now, with the trunk and spoiler to follow over the winter), I've been driving it very little over the past few months, maybe once a month if that. I had a winter beater that I picked up about three months ago, and I finally caved when I came across a deal that I couldn't resist...

So I picked up my new daily driver, just picked her up last Friday (16th), with the 850 now in hibernation mode till the summer/ spring is here...

New vehicle is a 2007 Acura TSX 6speed manual, fully loaded less nav. pics below were from the for sale section of the dealer, I have yet to take any pictures myself as how filthy it is with conditions here in the great white north...

Enjoy the pics, and feel free to comment...

My wife will never understand this, as my Volvo is 11 years senior to this newer Acura, and for me to tell her, that the Acura will be parked on the driveway or the street while the Volvo gets the warm garage, is just crazy talk...

I definitely still prefer driving my Volvo over this car, but this car has its purpose...

Nope, I only join forums when I decide that I am becoming passionate about it, and besides the Acura forums are full of people that need to where helmets lined with bubble wrap on a permanent basis...

Not the reason why I bought it. I needed a car that was presentable, yet maintained great fuel economy. The Volvo was presentable, fuel economy varied based on how I drove it, but it will never yield what this car can as far as fuel economy. The problem with driving the Volvo year round is I value my car way more than my insurance provider values it. and with being freshly painted, the last thing i want is the salt or gravel, or worst off some jackass to side swipe me...

When I had the Volvo in getting painted, the loaner I had was an Altima, which yielded phenomenal fuel economy, slow as shit, slower than the Acura, not as fun to drive as the Acura, but it yielded some great fuel consumption numbers... I used to own a Vigor, prior to buying the Volvo 850, and always have had a soft spot for them (Acuras). They are reliable cars, and they fulfill the purpose they are built for effectively...

As have I, that's why when I was contemplating getting a newer Altima (2010 and up) all it took was one test drive in this car for a deal I couldn't pass up, and it was done. Test drove on Wednesday, signed the papers on Thursday, picked up on Friday...

Its a 5 seater S2000. I have been looking at them to replace the wife's Odyssey.
How much did the front end paint cost out there? I had a 1500 dollar quote here in Ontario.

Thanks, and you're right the torque is nothing compared to the Volvo. I mean 164 compared to 220 (stock), and now over 400TQ, is just no comparison. Even though, this Acura is still an enjoyable drive.

The 6MT makes the car enjoyable to drive, I can't even begin to imagine how bland this car would be as an automatic... The car was purchased with a specific goal in mind, and it doesn't blow away any specific category, but it meets and accommodates each category with the right amount of compromise.

Thanks, yeah the manual is nice to drive and its actually not that bad in heavy traffic, given how soft/ lite, the clutch and shifter are to engage, its not daunting at all...

For me this was a perfect balance, the car is presentable to show up to business meetings with, or have an older colleague ride along to a meeting. Handles amazingly, which makes up for the lack of speed, but the 6speed milks every bit of performance the 2.4L I-4 produces... and still manages to get great mileage, well great compared to what I'm used to...

Not babying it all I am currently (8.4L/ 100km or ~28mpg), and I am slightly less than 1/2 tank mark with ~400kms (~249miles). With my driving style this is a huge improvement over the volvo or the winter beater (91 Nissan Stanza), with either of them i'd be lucky to get 450kms (~279miles) out of a tank...

As for the painting, luckily my insurance had covered a large portion of it, I only paid ($800 out of pocket) for the "R" Bumper (~$500, new at dealer) and matching paint (~$300)... the total bill for the front end was over $5000 cdn. It is absolutely retarded how expensive body work is up here, sure you can get it done cheap but you get what you pay for, and in the end it will cost you severely... My trunk lid, with spoiler, and the rear quarter panels is gonna cost me slightly north of $2000, but the body shop claims that since mine is a pearled paint, its a bit more complicated as its a three step paint system, versus typical two steps... Uggghhhh... so your $1500 as long as its a reputable shop is a steal of a deal as far as I'm concerned... good luck either way...

Yeah the 1500 is me prepping. They claim the high quote is due to pearl paint.
I was just seeing what much it was as I'm going to be in Calgary for a couple months.
Might just drive out the way it is.
