thanks to a recent trade, I've acquired 3 811 radios. I've dismantled one of them, and I see that the bulbs are soldered in rather than the screw in type in the later ones (btw, which bulb do I use in the 816?), which LED can I use to replace the bulbs?

Scroll about half way down and you want A-type bulbs, I know people have done this, I just can't find write up threads for an 850

If I remember correctly the bulbs are 8mm long which are about 1mm too big but I remember people got them to fit pretty easily. The pain in the arse is just un-solder them and re-do it. I'll try to find a thread, I'm sure there is one

(this is what i discovered replacing bulbs in an SC-816)... i imagine it's the same(?).

JKL Components CNW1-23

$0.65 at Mouser.com, and not hard to find elsewhere.

these are 9mm, but from what i remember that's the correct size... these are used in switches too, though there is one (rheostat?) that uses a 17mm and i could never find one.

the ones in the radio have a blue cover over the bulb that can be transferred. no soldering. http://www.volvoluti...id=64&mode=view
