Over the next few months while I'm here in So. Korea I want to start ordering and gathering everything that will be needed to get a car that hasn't been driven back on the road. I presume a good tune-up/stage 0 should be a starting point but does anyone else think I should hit up an area that basic maintaince like a tune-up might get overlooked?
My car ('05 S60 2.5T AWD) that was stored away with 89K miles was put on jackstands and garaged while I've been over here, other than that I put some fuel stabilizer in about a 1/4 tank of fuel and disconnected the battery.
-I plan to drain out that fuel, change the fuel filter as it's been about 25-30K miles since the last one was done and get it filled with new fuel.
-The battery should be good maybe a quick recharge but other than that it was brand new only used for about 2 weeks before storing it away.
-While it's up on stands I need to replace the spring seats and strut bearings (they were sounding bad before I left but ran out of time to replace them).
-Finally do a solid fluids flush (minus the tranny as I did that about 5K miles before storing it), check all vac. lines for dry rotting and complete the tune-up with all that goes into one.
With all those mentioned above am I forgetting something before I take her back out on the road after a year of it not being driven?

replace the battery as it is shot! unless you had a trickle charger on it but that still wouldnt save a year of constant charge. Ad new fuel and I wouldnt worry about the fuel filter..

The battery was disconnected from both the cables so there shouldn't be any draw on the battery...
I shouldn't have to bleed the brakes or anything like that which could be seized or is the amount of time not enough to cause anything serious to brakedown such as brake lines or the such?

If the vehicle was outside you will have rusty rotors, that's all.
As for the battery, lead acid has a discharge rate of about 5% per month depending on temp. Once you drop down enough sulfation kicks in and the battery will not take or hold a charge. It's dead...

Alrighty a battery is a cheap fix anyways, rotors and pads are being replaced for slotted rotors and new pads. I was just worried about the lines getting fouled up from not being used.
I've never really had a car as long as this (3.5 years) I use to get a car and do some work to it and tread it for another toy or sell it for a quick flip. I was in the DSM and also the VW scene for awhile and was constantly looking for something new with them I finally pulled my head out of my @$$ and got on board with the S60 lol.

Nothing else that I can think of that will have issues. The only major things with vehicles sitting is mold, mice and sulfated batteries. Everything else works itself out unless we are talking many many years.
