i was looking to get those in 225/15/17, but the only thing that i read is that after 20k miles the sound is terrible? any opinions about that?

I would disagree with that. The ones I replaced had 2 years - at least 24K - and the only reason I replaced them this summer was because two of the sidewalls got damaged on the drive to Carlisle, tread was still within reason for summer driving: the road noise level didn't change to any appreciable level. That was also before I installed the Magnaflows - not sure I could discern so readily now

Definitely too wide for an 850 - Adam put his C70 wheels & tires on the 850 GLT & they rub like crazy...

I have run and had almost everything on the different cars I have owned. On my T5 right now I have Dunlop Sport Maxx 225/40/18, and they stick like glue in dry and wet but noisy.

The BEST all round tire out there right now, and an amazing tire in the wet (Seattle) is the Vredestein Ultra Setanta. Iput these on my fathers Saab Turbo X and even he was blown away over the Pirreli P Zeros he had on there before. Plus the price is very good when you consider they most like then beter over Michelin PS2s.

I'll put my bid in for the BFG KDW2. I like the wearing on them, and typically get 3 hard seasons out of them. Wet traction... meh, it's FWD. I have autox'ed them and dragged with them. Last time at the track I was pulling a decent 0-60ft time. (At least that's what I was told)

Otherwise I like them a lot and now on my second set for the S70. 17x8 rims with a 215/40 tire. Has a tiny bit of stretch but it allows me to run a little lower with out scraping the fender insides on bumps.
Edit:They can be a little noisey though, but over the exhaust I have on the car I can't hear much else.

Not sure if Riken is around still, but stay away from them for sure LOL.

Seems like a lot of people like them, however most of what I read was from 2009, which from the looks of it was a time when these tires were a lot cheaper. I think that people love finding great deals, and tend to blow good deals out of proportions into great deals quite frequently. I know I've done the same thing before. Forums seem to snowball the effect in this regard. From a quick search it looks like those tires are around the same price, if not more expensive than the PSS's. Do you know what the best place to buy these is?

I liked the KDW2s but the sidewall was WAY to soft for anyone looking to improve handling > traction. I had to run 36 psi up front to prevent pushing and that caused bad wear on them. However, Very good tire, little loud, and wet traction was ..eh. But dry traction with a good tire pressure and suspension set up they were very sticky tires in the curves

That's odd, I have no push issues regarding tire flex. What side wall did you have? 40 or 45?

That might be why I never really feel any tire flex, with a 17x8 rim and the 215/40 I have a tiny bit of stretch so that probably helps my case a little bit.

Good info though as most people will probably run a 45 series tire.

Then he will be avoiding this tire since for at least half the year it doesn't get above 50 degress in the Seattle area, and we are known for wet weather. :)

Well that settles it!

Another tire I loved was the goodyear eagle f1 all season. That tire plowed through water like it wasn't even there. Super stiff sidewalls made potholes less dangerous and handling was fantastic!!

On a more budgetminded suggestion, general exclaim uhp. I found that to also have great dry traction and water displacement. Temperature didn't seem to have too large an effect on traction.

Im in Canada and Im not sure of the cheapest in the US. I can tell you that they were $400 cheaper not to long ago vs the Pilot Sports when I grabbed a full set of 245/40/18s. I'll see what I can find. But they are better than any tire out there. Plus being in seattle, rain performance is just amazing.

Also running KDW2s. 215/45/17.

Still have them on after 4 seasons. Could probably go another if my alignment didn't eff up the inside part of the tire.

Traction was good in wet and dry.

They are noisy, but you get used to it.

I'm actually pretty surprised how long they've lasted.

Semi off-topic but I previous had Kumho MX... they were the sex they have since been replaced but some retailers still have stock of them. WHY the fuck did they go up like $45 a tire? nothing compound wise has changed I assume seeing as they dont make them

I loved the Kumho MX they were amazing on the dry and about just as good in the wet (be gradually cautious as they gradually wear). They handled great and the sidewalls were stiffer than continentals so it was an instant improvement over them floppy cocks (just all season shit)

Now... As the MX isnt listed anymore (only run flats) on their site they show the XS... anyone had these on their betty before? I loved the MX but for the price increase to have run flats... I dont want to

Continental Extreme Contact DWS seems to be a favorite of many, and fairly priced. Great year round tire. I personally like the Michelin Primacy MXM4 or MXV4, not an all out performance tire but great all around tire.

I want to see some personal reviews of the Continental ExtremeContact DW (not DWS) because I have been interested in them but I know that continental is known for having softer sidewalls
