There are a few factors that go into interpreting boost. Idk what you have (I assume 98) and this doesnt have an actual boost pressure sensor... it uses MAF, throttle positioning sensor, and a few others to get a cumulative data then interpolates boost. Even if the tune is set for a 18psi CAP... if you have any bad sensors this can still put a damper on things because unless your running a MBC you arent at full boost any time your on throttle. See that your TCV isnt beat, clean your maf, check your throttle body (clean it too) and check any vacuum lines. Check the wastegate pre-tension as you should be right around 3.7. You can rent a vacuum pump from autozone / advanced autoparts and disconnect the pin arm pump the line up to 3.5 psi & tighten / lossen the rod until it falls onto the pin then tighten the lock nut. I wont get into perfect settings because everyone is different and the worse rule of thumb is # of turns... cause no one fuckin knows how much they are actually doing. I for example have a baller preset wastegate of 0psi. its a tough gig but someones gotta do it. I have full boost by 2700rpm & it runs like a boss. I dont know other people who have 0psi pre-tension on theirs and enjoy it as I do... different strokes for different folks
For reference, I run 5psi at about 2700 rpms. At 3000 rpms I'm at about 10 psi. When I get to about 3200rpms, I'm at full boost (16psi). My pretension is about 4.2psi measured with an adjustment tool.
