Nice starting point.

Good exterior/interior color combo.

Can't beat the AWD, if you decide more power is needed, or if you live in a climate that benefits from it.

Since it's a 98, you can start with the M66 AWD conversion.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'll need to take more pictures soon. Overall the car is a good deal for $1000. I got the car because my summer car is another wagon, a 1993 Golf variant imported from Germany with a 3.2 swap from a 2008 TT.
As for the Volvo, it does have some issues. The abs/tracs light comes on and goes off randomly. The lambda light is on, even though the MAF and O2 sensor have been replaced by the PO. He also did the rear suspension.
The car had a stutter a week ago or so... it would hesitate and stall... it got to the point where the car would buck and have no power on the highway, only to be normal the next day. Cleared all the codes with a friends code reader and it appears to run fine now.
It is not perfect cosmetically. It does have rust on the hood, drivers door and rear drivers fender/dog leg. Rear bumper is scuffed. The car was filthy inside when I got it. PO did the maintenance but apart from that didn't really pay attention to it.
I've done the engine oil and rear diff oil. I need to do the tranny and angle gear oil as well. I'd like to do the plugs/cap and wires and fuel filter since it gets pretty bad mileage now.

Basically this was meant to be a cheap a-b car, but i'm liking the brick more and more and have a feeling i'll be looking at pegs soon :P Clear corners are going on next week along with something most people don't do... 3000k HID with a re-aim after the install.

That's about it for now.. looks like i'll be coming here more often :)

Told you that it would take your money. They are very fun though.
I would change plugs, wire, and rotor, among some other things. Check all your vac lines, especially the ones with the elbows, as those seem to corrode and start cracking first. Make sure al intercooler hoses are in good shape and all clamps are tight. Another good thing to do is check out the PCV along with the PTC valve on he intake hose. Do some searching and find some info on "Stage 0". It will pretty much tell you everything to look for and fix on these cars. Good Luck and congrats on the new ride!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Looks good!

The ABS/Tracs light could be as simple as a loose wheel sensor (had it happen) or, more likely, the ABS module will need to be replaced. If it does, contact member "Matty Moo" for a new module. They're inexpensive and easy to remove+replace.

Well I'm borderline shocked. The previous owner found the complete service history of the car. I'd say a good 15k was spent in service in the past 10 or so years. The viscous and driveshaft were done around 2005 and it cost around $2.5... not to mention the slew of other crap that's been done. On the one hand it's great to see the full service history. On the other, it's a little shocking to see the full service history ha. Wow. This thing will not bleed me dry like it did the last 2 guys.. if it starts to crap out.. it's part out and off to the glue factory :/

2500 for VC & driveshaft??? I guess they went with new Volvo parts. You won't be needing to do those again - as long as you keep the tires even/same brand/size/model

Sometimes it's good to have a long fix sheet. My previous R I grabbed with 156k on it and got to 218k without many big ticket items going south on it. Good luck!
