Hi guys I am stumped. My dad purchased a 99 s70 non turbo. I am not to familiar with the 99's but my question is he had no alarm horn mounted on the firewall just a plug that was plugged into a plug blank which means volvo prewired for it. I added the factory horn and still it wont work. What else is needed to get the siren to work. Is this a plug and play upgrade like foglights or does it require a dealer update. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also the red light on dash does not illuminate when you lock the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I

It will for sure require software, but not sure what else. I know there is also a level sensor up under the dash that the car probably won't have.

Hi,
On your car you are likley to have the seriron unit up under the very front of the right hand wheel arch under the cover.
It is a battery backed unit, and is hard to get to so it is not dissconected by thebad boys.
The plug on the bulk head is were the very basic alarm, had a car horn. This is not used on meny late cars.
The problem is that the sirean unit tend to pack up, some times you can cut it apart and change the battery cells in it.
Other times this wount work and it is just dead

I forgot to add that you can select horn or sirron, but you need the dealer software.
I have had this done in the past both to add a siron or to replace afaulty one with a horn to save money on an old car.
But this depends on how much the dealer or some else would charge.
