03 V70 non-turbo 5 speed auto 177K miles.
it's felt under the hood and through the body of the car.
rpm gauge sits at normal idle rpms.
only when i put in park i feel these surges. when i put it in drive and stationary surges go away.
what's there to check? vacuum? lines? ignition coil?
help appreciated.

How high are the surges? few hundred rpm? thousand (lol friends civic did that) - checked the IAC, not sure how that would relate to the park/drive situation but maybe the load from drive is affecting it too.
You said the gauge sits at normal- does it do that even when the car is surging?
And yes check your vacuum leaks

Fuel trim code. Start by looking for vacuum leaks.

update: went to dealer and bought 3 prong Volvo spark plugs. So far so good. CEL went away and has not come back since then.
