Beware just after hitting 520 from SB 405 about a 1/4 mile on far left lane on right side is a bad pothole which costed me two new tires, but had to get 4 cause of AWD. Already filed a claim with DOT so we will see where that goes.

I drive 520 almost daily so that's great to know. Sorry to hear about your situation, man :/

Sad a toll is in that sort of shape. RE the tire, thats a cheap tire to do that. Rims or shocks should let go before a tire assuming correct inflation.

Since my choice in tires is why this happened, what do you reccommend that can take a hit at 60mph an 6"s deep without damage?

Mother F*cker! Hit a helluva' pothole at 30mph going through the detour where they are doing construction under the West Seattle Bridge tonight in the XC. Hit that pothole harder than I've ever hit any pothole ever and the sidewall on the right front tire has about a 1 inch tumor sticking out of it now. Worse than the pic above! And my tires are nearly new Pirelli P6's (Not exactly cheap tires) at 35psi. I'm calling the goddam city first thing in the morning to make a claim. I'm getting really sick of these Seattle roads. Never saw roads this bad when I was living up in Everett.

@ Steve, sorry to hear about the rims and tires. DOT needs to fix that pothole! 3ft by 2.5ft with a 6" depth is stupid! They'll incur more costs replacing tires, etc than paying to get the pothole repaired, just plain dumb! Tires with stronger sidewall, Bridgestones and since DOT will reimburse, DO IT!!

@ Justin, ditto on your sityo too. City gotta pay both of you guys for tires and fix those dang holes!!!

Haha, I live in Big Sur, CA. If you have ever been here you might have an idea of what I mean. But this road is CRAP! We get whole sections of the highway that drop 6 inches a night. And in the winter there are boulders th size of a car, that fall 100 feet onto the road. Those are pot holes. If you drive the road long enough, you knwo where the normal ones are. But that doesn't help you from the new ones. I have gone through 3 rims in less than 6 months, and due for a whole new set. If you tried to run 18's or even 17's you would be pinching tires multiple times a day.

Think the roads in Big Sur takes the prize for crappiest roads. Why do the roads drop 6" a night?

The road literly hangs over the pacific ocean, and a numerous fault lines. The waves eat away at the cliffs and the earth is ever moving.
