that would work well, i could put all the 96 stuff in the car turbo/injectors.ecu. then send the xc ecu away to be tuned

I think its 100 percent plug and play, can anyone confirm this? I know 15G, 16T, 18T and 19T are, but not sure about 13G and 14T

Thanks, I have to say I have read your write up on your many times, Love your car.

So, finally correct me if I'm wrong I can now swap turbo/injectors/ecu from the 96 850 turbo into my 98 v70xc awd and then send the 98 v70 xc away to be remapped to take full advantage of the swap

let me know if i need anything else in order to make the swap, the other shiny bits will come later such as exhaust /intake/etc

No, you can't use a '96 ECU in a '98. '98 is a standalone year, only a '98 turbo ECU can be used - any '98 turbo ECU, will work. Basically, you just want a 98 T5 ECU to allow for the larger turbo. Don't know what injectors came in a '96, you really want whites or blues from a T5. One can assume the earlier injectors would work, but I don't know that.

If you can't find a 98 T5 (auto) ECU, I may have one.

Hussein one night me and Ben (InitialDriveGTR) were messing around and i took my 94 ECU and put it in his 98 S70 T5 and i ran his 98 T5 ECU on my 94 T5 just to see if it worked. Cars ran fine, no CEL's or anything but i know the different ECU's affect the A/C in different ways (It was in the lucky Tuning 101 thread).

As for the injectors, pre 1998 turbos had the Orange 315cc injectors.

The A/C compressor clutch wire is activated by different pins on the ECU for M4.3 and M4.4
So if you just drop a M4.4 box in an M4.3 car without switching the wires then the A/C compressor will never get power and consequently won't run the A/C system.

I've just got the A/C wired jumpered in my car since I run both M4.4 and M4.3 ECU's in it all the time.

So in conclusion, you can technically run a 96 (M4.3) in a 98 (M4.4) but it isn't the best option you have.

Same thing - UNLESS it's the 16T from a 01-on body - they have different coolant port positions.

I haven't looked to see what ECU's go for recently. I would want $100 shipped for the one I have.
