Hey guys, only 132 days unit Carlisle!!! I figured what better time to get a thread going for the best part of the weekend, the drive!! I drove out to Pittsburgh last night and guess what, tolls have gone up yet again... Over the past year I've made a few trips back and forth to Carlisle picking up cars to add to my collection and found some alternative routes where it isn't necessary to pay out the ass (especially when I've been pulling a double axle trailer). While these routes don't have the super sweet tunnels, it's all interstate minus the last hour or so of the trip. According to Google maps it only adds about 20 minutes too.

You Chicago peeps would make it out to Ohio along whatever route you so choose (Turnpike is really the only way...). Then out towards Youngstown you would get off the turnpike at the 80/76 interchange. We would then follow 80 across PA to the State College area then head south through some nicely twisting hilly state routes.

Also, I've been thinking if any Ohio peeps (and anyone else who cares to) wants to meet up at my place Thursday we can have a fancy lil sleepover and tell Volvo ghost stories while we shine up our whips then roll out Friday morning and meet the rest of the MWC along the highway as always.

Seriously considering going this year...assuming the car holds up. Im very interested in experiencing the tunnels, but has anyone from Chicago ever considered taking rt 30 instead? I'm thinking what it lacks in tunnels it makes up for in scenery

I've taken 30 to Chicago once, and it's a mistake I will NEVER make again...I mean unless u like 2 lane stop and go driving

Really? I've heard from several sources that rt 30 was a great drive from coast to coast. Oh well.

I guess it's not that bad, I just want to get to places as quickly and painless as possible and would rather drive interstate
