Ever since my manual swap this switch has been a major PITA. It randomly pops out of the socket/square bracket thing and my brakes lights stay on. Are there any tips on how to correctly install this switch? Perhaps I got the wrong year switch and it just doesn't fit right?

Shouldn't do that but set screw, epoxy, or wire will fix it.

It should clip into place and stay there. If it's popping out, it's either not fully clipped in or part of the plastic on the switch chipped off. Inspect the switch next time you have it out, and also inspect the mounting bracket. I bet you'll find the problem.

I've actually tried two switches, both with the same problem. I'll just ziptie it in next time it pops out.

Yeah, I had to ziptie it in my car. No more hassle.
