That's a good deal.

Make sure the cover comes off easily, they get nasty real quick and you'll need to be able to take it off easily. Also think about if it's going to stay in the same car all of the time or getting moved constantly. 17lbs doesn't sound like much until you start moving it between cars.

We had an Eddie Bauer one of some brand that we used for 5 years. It was similar to that and heavy like that one is. Between that and the cover being a bitch to take off I was glad when I was able to get rid of it.

XC60 came with them built in ^_^ , but I would definitely go Recaro for the 850 for a matched set.

I picked a pretty circuitous route and arguably cheated slightly, but I'm going to get there

Don't worry Trav, you might have a little ginger of your own some day... :P And yes that's a good deal! I need their convertible seats before I can put him in one of those. I keep joking with my wife that all I want in my car is a Recaro, she keeps saying Britax...

I've already got one, best seat ever. Daughter was comfortable for 10 hours straight in the car w/ 0 fussing. She's a bad ass and deserves a bad ass seat.

Britax is nice too, but the recaro is soooo nice. We had Ellie forward facing at 10 months because she was so big, she couldn't fit in her britax carrier anymore and the recaro seat is freakin huge and wouldn't fit in the subaru rear facing, so forward it was and it makes life 1000 times easier.

And since we're keeping score, my '98 T5 has them too.

Seb turns 10months today, he's a HUGE kid too! We jokingly call him Bibendem. We still like the 35lb infant carrier, we got the bigger version so we could hang onto it a bit longer the the 25lb carriers. We like the fact that we can strap him in the nice warm house then take the carrier out to the cold car (like I did today), swap it between both of our and my parents cars and use it with stroller. But his chunky feet are dangling over the edge of it and soon he won't be able to fit.

When we get the convertible we'll probably still keep him facing rearward till he's 2 since that's the new recommendation.

Yeah, but it's a huge PITA. Rear facing takes up so much room.

Lucky man.

Back when I was growing up we didn't have car seats. You sat in the back and kept your mouth shut or one of the two parents sitting up front would crack us. If the car had to stop, a serious ass-beating was about to go down.

All the cool people had sweet pimped-out conversion vans...not us though. Since mom and dad both worked for Chrylser, we were always cruising around in the finest 70's and 80's iron Chrysler was putting out at that time, which means it was some shitty Aspen, Volare, Challenger or LeBaron.
