I don't have any ant-seize, so can I use something like WD40 or motor oil to loosen?

Thanks

I'm going to be removing my wifes 10 year old Camry car with 100k. The plugs have never been changed so I'm a little afraid that they will not be easy to remove. I've read where it's possible to break the spark plugs if it's seized due to too much force, if that happens, I'm on the couch for the next week. Please help your fellow weekend mechanic avoid the couch.

Thanks

PB blaster if your worried. Spray and let it sit overnight, then try to loosen them, then respray and work the plug back in and out.

Also having the motor nice and hot helps...

make sure to put anti-seize on the new plugs so you never have to worry about this again.

I plan on putting some lubricant on the new plugs, thanks for the suggestion. I know folks on this forum are very knowlegeable about any questions car related so I ask here and hoping someone else will benefit from the answers.

You should remove the plugs every year or so and put a tiny amount of anti seize on them.

On Click and Clack (PBS radio) they advise - If you leave the plugs in for 100k, they will NEVER come out!

Then I would have a lot of bad heads on volvos!

They will come out... also remove them every year? if you put antiseize on first then you shouldnt have to touch them until you replace the plugs again. Just wasting your time.
