So im really getting sick of my volvo unfortunately, every time i turn around something else goes wrong. its recently throwing a shift solenoid B code and normally i can clear the code and it will operate normally, but now ill clear the code and drive 100ft and it will just come back, now im not sure if its because of cold weather because it only came back today (22 degrees out) and for the last hour ive been clearing the code to try to get it to kick back on. I dont have the 120.00 to fix the issue so im at a loss and will have to just drive it easy i guess. Any suggestions?

How does the ATF look? Most times a solenoid code means you have a bad tranny. Not all the time but it's a good chance. Even more so if the ATF looks bad.
You could get the solenoid used and install it. $120 seems high? Where are you getting that price?

I was looking through Partstrain.com but my atf is good when i checked it last month, didnt look dirty or smell burnt at all. I wanna say its the solenoid and not the trans because it shifted like a dream at other times and then the code would pop and deleting it would fix it. So im going to the junk yard monday to snag a solenoid.

What year and model is the car? They make a repair kit for the B4 solenoid on the AW trans for 5 cylinder cars. If you don't have the cash then you'll have to wait till you do. Don't take that the wrong way but it is what it is.
ABM headlamps, 6k Sharp HID Kit, clear corners, P2 side marker lights,
Lowered IPD front springs & Intrax rear springs w/ Koni yellow adjustables x4,, 18" Motegi Racing wheels, Federal SS595 tires
HKS BOV, Boosted!! R Exhaust manifold, Custom Cat-back Magnaflow exhaust Etc :)

The number two solenoid because when the issue comes up the code reads shift solenoid b

There is only solenoid S1 and S2
Maybe it's the scanner or whatever, but solenoid B is not on the list, as far as I can see.

Perhaps solenoid B = S 2?
Scanners tend to give you generic information
