Hey guys, I have been doing some searching on how to hookup the 5bolt exhaust side to a 3 bolt dp. For example a gt3071r. It has a 5 bolt outlet. How is everyone hooking these up to downpipes? Is everyone going custom DP or is there some sort of adapter to connection to say the OBX 3bolt Straight DP.

Thanks everyone!

Custom downpipe is the best option. If you're stepping up your turbo game, it should be easy to step up your downpipe too. That's really the only option.

Awesome! Thanks for the reply. Im assuming i could use something like this http://www.himni-rac...products_id=408 bolt it on the turbo and then weld the downpipe onto that.

Thanks guys!

Yeah, you should be able to do something like that.

What are you doing for the wastegate? An ultimate internal wastegate would do well :)

Im kinda new to the whole turbo thing. Doesnt the gt3071r come with an internal waste gate? Dont i just need to add the actuator to it? Or will i need a different 5 bolt plate?

Better off getting something like this,

http://www.atpturbo....3&Category_Code=

Then V-band connection for the DP.

Depends. Some do, some don't. I don't think the 5-bolt housings have an internal wastegate. The link Zappo put up is what I was talking about, thanks George!

I was just about to post that link! Yes, that is a great idea! It would bolt right up to the stock DP. And i was looking around and i believe the 5 bolts come with an internal wastegate!

V-Band is same as conical correct?

So then the stock conical downpipe would not hookup to a v-band adaptor, correct?

Correct. You wouldn't want to use a conical downpipe anyway because the opening is too small.

I also have the ultimate wastegate on a 3071r but ported out running 450bhp. Make sure you get the T3 exhaust housing. You will have to weld everything up as you will end up with exhaust leaks (manifold to exhaust housing, exhaust housing to ultimate wastegate).

The above engine/front pipe pic I posted shows a GT3071R T-25 setup / S60R manifold reworked to a T-25 setup by Cosworth. Worked great & no leakage.

No welding is needed, if use a standard T3 gasket (crush type) everything is nice and sealed. Just cold mating it won't work of course.

But yes you do need to make sure the turbine housing is T3, iirc Garrett makes an internally gated 3071 but it's only available w/ T25 inlet. ATP has a custom housing for the GTxx that has an internal gate though, it should perform a bit better than the UIWG since the WG outlet is seperated from the turbine outlet.

Ahh okay interesting. Right now im just planning for the future, so im getting some ideas of turbos to get. I dont think im going to do an engine build right off the bat. I would love to get up to 300WHP with stock internals. Right now i am looking into the kkk k-24. Also the Hahn 16G and 20G. Does either of those require a botton end rebuild?

That's not what we have found in the UK. The 3 T5s and the one T4 that are in the UK that use Garrett 2871/3071 have all needed the turbine housings welded to the manifold, as with the T3 gasket they will leak.
