My wife just called and has taken the 940 Wagon on its maiden voyage after a head gasket repair. She said the head coming out is kind of warm, but not hot, and she's been driving for over 2 hours and hasn't ever gotten really warm. Where should I start? Do I need to flush the heater core, or should I look elsewhere? The car is a non-turbo automatic 1994.
Thanks,
Chris

Solved. Turns out the PO removed vacuum from the heater control valve and wired it shut. I simply removed the wire until I get some more daylight to repair it properly.

IIRC vacuum applied to that valve causes it to close.

Or keeps it open. I haven't had time to check out why it was wired shut.
I'll need to look at the vacuum routing. Any info on that?

The vacuum line is an hard plastic line that runs through a rubber grommet somewhere below the the firewall heater hose connections; from there it goes to the control panel (if you have MCC, manual controls) or to a solenoid valve pack mounted approximately behind the glove box (if you have ECC, electronic controls)
