Hi, i have a 98 volvo glt with some upgrades (OBX exhaust, ipd tcv and cbv, silicon vacuum lines) and have experianced lurching or bucking after doing a 130mph highway pull. The problem isnt consistent and when it does happen its in the 4k rpm range.
I plan on putting in a 16t and ARD Green tune tomorrow, so any quick suggestions would be awesome!
I also got a light the last time i put my foot into it.

Its the light between the Up arrow and blank space.

Could it be a hint to whats going on?

For more reference, heres the post at ___:

Thanks!

"Do the brakes work?" "Yea, but...no ABS" Is it reliable? Yea, but....you have to think nice things to it for a couple seconds. Are these lights supposed to be on?
No.

Right, thought it had something to do with that. Yes, ive done stage 0. plugs? bosch platinum's. i avoided the iridums because ive heard they dont like turbo cars.
I'll do some research then.
thanks

do a compression check on that cylinder, just to rule out a burnt valve.

i dont believe it is, as the problem is intermittent. i might check anyway, but when it works, its pretty fast. However, i do remember when replacing spark plugs, the cheap Chinese gapper i bought was falling apart by the 4 cyl, i barely got the 5th somewhat right. with added load on the engine (130mph) would that worsen the spark plug? ill try some injector cleaner and swapping the injectors to rule them out. Since it only happens at high engine load, i think its a fuel delivery problem.

Also, about the coolant, what do you recommend i do? Like will water work, or should i get my hands on some coolant and do a mix. ive heard 50/50 is best for places like cali.

50/50 is fine....

You need a tune up with real parts, as in Volvo plugs, bougicord wires, bosch cap/rotor... all things point to crappy ignition parts.

okay, thanks. I remembered the crappy spark plug gapper i bought fell apart on the last plug. And i have OEM cap and rotor, and arnt the Bosch platinums volvo plugs? You may be right about the wires, i didnt replace them. I'll re gap the plugs and see if that helps, then maybe order a set of performace wires from IPD.

Thanks for your help!

IPD just puts their label on them and charges you extra, if you select 8MM they are identical to what IPD sells.

Wow, thank you. What about the MSD coil? Think it would be worth it on my level of tuning?

The stock coil will fit your needs just fine in my opinion.

Okay, thank you. I got some Bosch Super coppers in and gapped them to .25 (its what the gapping tool had)
The problem got better, but i found the true culprit: my wire;s dates said 97 36! I'll order those Kingsborne wires soon.

Thanks for the help!
