I'm looking for some affordable, better then OEM shocks and found these on Tire rack.

http://www.tirerack....95&autoModClar=

I've done a search on here and volvoforums.com, and tons of reading about suspension setups and not found anything Volvo specific.

Does anyone know anything about these or have any real world tests/opinions?

Thanks

There are Koni Yellows which are compatible with our cars, along with Bilstein TC struts and shocks...The Bilstein TC's are equivalent, or maybe slightly better than stock (although I heard that the stock struts/shocks in our cars may very well be the same as the TC's)....the Koni yellows are a great upgrade, reasonably priced, with basic adjustments...

Frank Derks from EST posted not too long ago about these. You can find the thread here:

Interesting. I'm in the market for some struts, and had no idea these existed. Based on what Frank said, they should perform the same as Koni yellows when set to the softest setting. So, question for Koni yellow owners, how do the yellows (when on softest setting) compare to other struts/shocks you've used?

Str.t dampers have been out for a few years, I was looking into them when I was shopping for shocks for a Miata a almost 3 years ago. I ended up with Koni yellows for the Miata as I had them on my Subaru as well and liked them. Same reason I bought a set of yellows for the Volvo (haven't installed them yet).

Str.t are the budget alternative and their valving is supposedly similar to the yellows on the very soft setting. I have no idea of their build quality and I'm pretty sure they are gas-charged vs. the yellows being oil-charged. Obviously, they aren't adjustible, where the yellows have adjustible rebound (compression is static).

Over the years I've learned that dampers are THE thing not to cheap out on when modifying the car. But, they should work just fine as an OEM replacement, I'd rank them in the same range as KYB GR2s which I put on my LS400.

replacement oem shocks with a bit more of stiffness. i had them on my civic, but bought full coilovers instead. good quality/price. can't tell on a volvo application but will sure be the same parallel.

I have Koni sports on the front of my AWD with TME springs. I have to say I've never set them to anything softer then full stiff. But I'm use to running Bilstien HD and LOVE how stiff they are.
