I will be getting rid of the volvo because I have to move 2300 miles away soon. I just have no idea where to set the price.

It is a 1998 V70 XC. It's originally a California car so there is no rust anywhere. It has about 143000 miles on it and moves under it's own power. I've kept up with the maintenance (recent tune-up and flametrap) and it runs well enough but it does have some issues. There's a small dent in the rear door, it doesn't currently have the propshaft attached (bad center bearing) and it doesn't idle smoothly (rpms steady, but it sounds like an exhaust leak or slight vibration). Good tires, full leather (no rips but it's stretching from the doors), side airbags and some crazy Alpine DVD sound sytem (dvd player doesn't actually read dvd's, but the screen is there and sound is awesome). Missing the blade for one headlight wiper and the driver side seatbelt cover on the B-pillar. Oh and it's silver outside, black inside. Pretty clean. Cargo area has some smudges from transporting assorted VW parts.

So with the mechanicals being what they are what can I post this car for?

Thanks in advance

Have you considered replacing the headlight wiper blade and the seatbelt cover from the junkyard - missing parts quickly push the price down. That and steam clean the interior.

As you've described it you'll be lucky to get $2500 - $3000 for it. If it was in better condition (engine, prop shaft, body damage) you could potentially sell it for $3500 to $4000.

A few comparables for you:

I've seen them go for $4500 in good running condition. if you have time (and money) to fix the mechanical issues it would be worth it, also you have a better chance of selling it if it runs good.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll replace the missing plastic and give it a good once over. Sadly I lack time and garage space to really do anything with it.

AWD broken but mileage is pretty low for what it is.

I would pay no more than 2k, just because the main component that makes it a XC (awd) is broken. Had the AWD been fixex, id probably pay 3500-4k. It also depends on the overall condition though. Do you have any pics?
