Hello.
So my PCV pipe was snapped about 8 inches from the PTC. I found some hose that fit over that the pipe and tried to slide it over the broken ends.
Each time I tried a few more inches snapped off.
The short of it is, the end is now about 6 inches under the manifold. Is there anyway to try and get hose over that thing without removing half the engine bay?
Thanks

If it's snapping, then it's highly likly that it needs to be replaced.

The complete PCV system that is.

All you have to do is remove the intake manifold and you've got all the room you need.
It's really easy. Just buy a new gasket for the manifold and remember where the connections
lead to.

I would recommend using copper for the replacement. Also a word of advice buy OEM rubber parts only.

just take the intake off like eveyone is saying..but I would add you should use this opportunity to change your fuel injector rubber o-rings too.

Because they leak so often? And so hard to replace an other time?

Replace the system or we can all talk over how to find your oil leaks in a few months.

The rubber piece is bigger than the vac line to protect it. It wraps around. If you recall when doing the pcv there was a bigger foam/rubber piece holding both of those together. If you separate the bigger one for a copper one then you would need to make a cover for the smaller one. Just assuming.

I wonder who invented that copper design haha :-)

That vac hose in the picture is actually a later diameter hose. It helps A LOT during idle.

In my opinion the stock vac hose for that is WAY to small and does not have enough vacuum to work during idle.

So it looks like im replacing it then.
Is it cheaper to piece together a kit if going the route of copper pipe? Or is the kit price better?
Also looking at a stylin motors vacuum hose kit. Are some of those the same parts?
And i think ill go ahead and put a catch can in too. Now irs going to need largr inlet amd outlet than is common. Does anyone have any recommendations on catch cans as im not having much luck?
Is there anything else worth doing while i'm working on these areas?
Thanks

Replace:
Oil trap
hose to the head
hose to the intake
bottom hose to the block
side hose to the block
intake gasket.

That's all, if you want to use copper that's great but you have to buy a complete role of a it and that's not worth the money unless you do a lot of these. Also, there are more topics then almost anything else on the PCV system so do some research.

you already have a catch can! don't overthink it

how would I be able to use a larger line? Can I replace the piece on the mani that it goes to?

I meant larger diameter.

The hose from the pass. side of the intake to the PTC valve on the intake hose can just be replaced with a larger diameter hose. I used one that was large enough that you had to zip-tie it into the manifold and it just fit perfectly onto the PTC. I can hear the vacuum but I have NO (ZERO) smoke at idle now. Before I ran it directly to the tree and before that I had it with the stock diameter hose to the end of the intake.

Makes sense that it would work better, way more vac with the larger line. And since that line is only for vac, I can use silicone for it as well right?

You said you could hear the vac, you mean you could hear it leaking? Sorry I'm confused about this. If it was leaking wouldn't casue other problems?

I still have some smoke, but I have been watching it and its getting less and less.

You can hear it sucking at the PTC on the intake tube. NO not a leak, just a lot of vacuum through a small area (PTC).

You can use whatever hose you want that is rated for heat and oil. It doesnt have to be silicone unless you are looking to have the hoses outlast the vehicle. I have original vac hoses on most of my vehicles and they are over 10years plus. It's just a going thing to go with silicone when anything will work that is rated for the application.
