Didn't know where to post this.

I was looking at an 01 S80 T6 Turbo for $4k with 167,000 mi. and I was wondering, are the S80's any good ?

I really don't know anything about them. Any big issues.

I wouldn't mind having a S80 with a T-5 in it

Do some research, there are many threads/topics/discussions about s80 t-6's on here and other forums

The S80 T6s have a lot of transmission/electrical problems. I would personally stay away, but there are members on here (S8ET6 I think?) who have modded them.

If you want a big car with a smooth ride a S80 with a suspension that has been kept up is okay I guess..I don't like working on the twin turbo's. The 99's were notorious for tranny failure but I'm sure by now most of those have been replaced with rebuilds. Electrically your going to be replacing door actuators and DIM's, alarm sirens etc.. Leaky turbo drain tube seals that are a oh yeah! to do on the twin turbo's..I'd go with a nice S70 before S80..

Can't you find one with less miles at least..Then you will defer some of the repairs it will need till later. My 1997 850R has less miles..I'm just sayin.

IPD Strut Brace, IPD Boost Guage, EST Intake, TME Catback Exhaust, Bilstein Struts/Shocks, TME Lowering Springs, Wastegate adjust to 6psi, European Side Markers...just new, black jewels and ECU upgrade....next : finally a downpipe!

Early S80 T6s are a nightmare. Don't even consider one with out full maintenance records. There is a reason a fully loaded twin turbo luxury car is so cheap..spend your 4k on a nicely maintained s70 T5 or an 850R

They use a transmission essentially sourced from a Buick, so that is the problem. If you get one with a newer trans, you should be fine.

Run don't walk.

Search S80 T6 on this site and you'll find everything you need to know.
