Read the codes and see what is stored. Probably a vacuum leak and/or never had a tune-up.

Punctuation is your friend. And you really need to read the codes and let us know. We can guide you from there. A tuneup is easy....you can buy a akit from www.fcpeuro.com

Yea I have and it's not pertinent to what the prob is I have just been made aware that when the car overheated it has done the coolant temp sensor this mechanic Volvo specialist is certain of it I'm starting to think this makes sense as it happened to me once before with a ford I once had what u guys reckOn

They're called sentences. And it helps when you make them instead of just babbling on.

Also, starting a thread about a check engine light and then saying you've checked the codes and they're "not pertinent" is quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever seen on this board. The CEL isn't just magically on for some other reason. It's on because there are codes. And the chances of there being a serious fuel system problem with no codes related to it and other codes causing a CEL... is basically zero.

Now listen I didn't get on here to have some tosser abuse my intelligence I say it's not pertinent because wise ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD wtf has an abs and tracs light got the hell to do with over fueling quite frankly your response was rather stupid all you had to was ask why not insult me. I also said the air pump was saying there was a fault that had something to do with the fact there was no relay on it which I had remove to replace. I was told by a Volvo specialist that an air pump fault alone would not cause this problem he was adamant it was a coolant sensor all I asked did this make sense to anyone not ask for a d head response

So is the Check Engine Light, (Says Check Engine, the Orange box next to the traction control light, in the lower right corner of the dash), on or not? And if so what codes is it displaying? No one on here will be able to help you without those codes.

Also...grammar is approved for use on this site. Your posts are very confusing because they read as one long run on sentence. Just wanted to make sure you understood that ;)

You can "show" us pictures by inserting pictures you upload to Photobucket. It's free, fun, and easy to use ;)

Let's hope. If he thinks CEL and ABS/TRACS lights are the same thing...

Deimos. You're really something arent you where do u get off presuming what people think.
I never said the tracs/abs and cel were the same thing how pretentious of you I said the abs/tracs were not pertinent an I said the cel was referring to a air pump fault. All I asked if what a Volvo mech said was any truth in it he said the coolant sensor was shot I just thought it would show up as a code instead I get insulted and told off for my lack of punctuation and grammar wtf

Because no one could understand a single thing you were typing.

You, as in personally you the owner of the vehicle needs to get an exact list of stored CEl codes. Then you will be able to see what is stored and post back if you like.

Swapping a temp sensor takes all of about 10mins! So go for it...

Not to be mean or rude...but the lack of grammar is making your posts very hard to understand and read. We have to go through and guess where each sentence begins. Being very serious, not trying to joke on you. Your posts are confusing.

You said the CEL was on and the Volvo mechanic said the code reffered to the air pump. Do you have that code? If you do then it is very easy to verify if what he told you is on the level or if he was just guessing and the code says differently.

Do they teach English in school in Australia? I think they do... you might need a refresher course.

I don't know if they do this there, but here in the US a parts store will loan you a code reader you can use in their parking lot to check the codes causing a CEL. No, the SAS pump probably isn't the main issue if there's a code for that, but if you're having a serious fuel issue there should be a code for it.
