Also, starting a thread about a check engine light and then saying you've checked the codes and they're "not pertinent" is quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever seen on this board. The CEL isn't just magically on for some other reason. It's on because there are codes. And the chances of there being a serious fuel system problem with no codes related to it and other codes causing a CEL... is basically zero.

Also...grammar is approved for use on this site. Your posts are very confusing because they read as one long run on sentence. Just wanted to make sure you understood that

Let's hope. If he thinks CEL and ABS/TRACS lights are the same thing...

I never said the tracs/abs and cel were the same thing how pretentious of you I said the abs/tracs were not pertinent an I said the cel was referring to a air pump fault. All I asked if what a Volvo mech said was any truth in it he said the coolant sensor was shot I just thought it would show up as a code instead I get insulted and told off for my lack of punctuation and grammar wtf

You, as in personally you the owner of the vehicle needs to get an exact list of stored CEl codes. Then you will be able to see what is stored and post back if you like.
Swapping a temp sensor takes all of about 10mins! So go for it...

You said the CEL was on and the Volvo mechanic said the code reffered to the air pump. Do you have that code? If you do then it is very easy to verify if what he told you is on the level or if he was just guessing and the code says differently.

I don't know if they do this there, but here in the US a parts store will loan you a code reader you can use in their parking lot to check the codes causing a CEL. No, the SAS pump probably isn't the main issue if there's a code for that, but if you're having a serious fuel issue there should be a code for it.
