I have been researching the 5431E .63A/R and putting an ATP ultimate wastegate on it. How do you like your 5857?

I highly recommend the 5857 with the billet wheel. Boost comes on at 3,500rpm and really hits hard at 4,000rpm. I suggest going the route I took and getting the .82a/r turbine housing and having a wastegate welded to the top of it.

I need to go hop on a dyno to see what I'm putting down but the torque is incredible and hp seems to be in the 350whp range @ only 16psi.

Sorry I haven't updated this in a while. I bought a K24 which I will run for a while till I get tired of its power. Got an awesome deal on it locally.

Hey where did you guys order main/rod bearings and piston rings from? Im going to be using stock size. We opened up another block and it is in fantastic shape. Dropping it off at the machine shop tomorrow. I ended up having a slight bend in one of the stock rods. Not noticeable at all but you could tell by the wear on the cylinder wall.

Nice rn head Val!

This waa quoted from Jeff, "volvo5.0" in another thread.
"rod bearings.....Clevite CB1825P.... rockauto.com
main bearings.....OE....I couldn't find aftermarket"

I used all oem bearings. The crank and block tell you what size bearings you need and where they go.

Broken headbolts are fairly common. Check with another machine shop. The guy we use will come to our shop, and he's never failed to get a broken headbolt out. Price will vary depending on actual time spent. Most times he's pretty quick, but there was one that fought him hard, and he charged accordingly.

Thanks John. Started cleaning the block and all sorts of other parts since everything is getting ready to bolt on. Used lye based oven cleaner and a pressure washer. Also lowered the 960 :)

Worked on this today. Anyone know if cables look like they are from a right hand drive model... my only suspicion at this point is that the firewall connection seems wrong.

Nice...should be fun! I've got a core longblock I'm just waiting to dig in to. Where did you end up finding piston rings? They seem to be hard to find. Let me know, I need some as well!

I'm using OE pistons but I'll be going aftermarket with the rods just in case. Not bothering with a build thread I don't think since there won't be much bling. I'll let the dyno do the talking. :)

Here is a better picture and not sure why Volvo would be written upside down...it just wont mount to the firewall correctly.
