I have a 96 850 Wagon turbo with a random ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD misfire! The car has 152,000 miles and is stock to the bone! It is a garage queen, so i dont drive it much. Anyway was driving it on a nice day not going into boost at all, when the car starts to hicup(Idle funny) all down the road. I went home changed the spark plug, still same results. It sounds like the car has a cam when at idle. I then let the car sit for 1week and change the fuel filter. Still the same thing..idle rough. What is next to check!
I am stumped and I do not want to take it to Volvo at all... Any suggestion?

Have you isolated which cylinder(s) are misfiring? You mentioned replacing the spark plugs, what about the rest of the ignition components, what condition are they in?

if you don't have a misfire now, and it's rough idle...i'd check for a boost/vac leak...torn hose

Our 850 sounded the same although it was non-turbo model. Bad distributor and Coil were the weak links.
