even with putting $2000 insurance on it, would that calm your nerves?

I am on the fence about it. My car has a tune and it is from fat ass oliver. i know it was never ever ment for my manual since i get a p1600 and p1618 code aka missing tcu.

Thanks AJ. Yeah that would have been the plan to do it while on travel, since I couldn't afford to have my car down for more then a long weekend. Unfortunately I leave at the end of Feb. and don't see a solution happening in the next couple weeks... :( But really my main worry is shipping out the ECU and having something happen in transit and really being up "The Creek". I've shipped out too much electronics in padded boxes to Pelican cases and seen them damaged. I guess it's also knowing too many guys that worked at UPS who would see how far they could drop kick packages... So I think my ECU will stay put in my car unless someone has another idea or Lucky is able to get the IMMO without me shipping it too him.

BTW I owe you a couple rounds for that... ;)

We offer ME7 tuning now of course for 99-00 models and 01-04 will be available in first of Feb... In fact I've actually done a few 01+ car so far but cloning is something new. So with anything new time is required to figure the whole picture and see what's possible.

As it is now I can clone an ECU here at my bench but nothing remote yet. I know we all want this to happen, none more than me! And remember we're doing stuff here with ME7 that I've yet to see anyone in the aftermarket offer or take on.. so breaking new ground is always challenging from a patience standpoint, at least for me anyway.

I'm hoping for a remote solution to cloning but it's looking more and more like the time needed to develop it won't be worth it. Couple that with a remote tuner option becoming available shortly and we're in better shape than it might seem.

Thanks

I know I don't mind waiting for Lucky to offer new services that no other tuner can do yet. A few weeks wait is worth it ;)

The Volvo warranty reports for lists the key code as a 6 digit number/letter combo. Am I correct in thinking that if someone gets a warranty report (all dealers can run them) this means that they have their immo code, which means you should be able to clone them an ECU?

Any idea if this will work?

The key code that is on file with Volvo refers to the code used when you physically cut a new key to match the tumblers of the car. Not the same as the Key code that the transponder in the Key has.

When it comes to IMMO there's actually two codes: 1. is the transponder code to the Immo 2. is the Immo pin resident on the ECM and ECM. We're concerned with the later for this conversation.

Was talking to guy on a chip flashing forum last night and he swore you could simply remove the Immo chip from the ECU and it would allow the car to start. Well... I can confirm that's not true
Would have been nice if it was :(

I looked in VIDA the other day when I had the car hooked up to it and I couldn't find anything there either. It did say I had 4 keys programmed to the car. Unfortunately it only came with 1 when I bought it. LOL.

Would be nice to know if there is a way for us VIDA users to program new keys or transponders. There's got to be some kind of way if you could get a hold of the actual software file that is downloaded from the dealer. But I'm sure it's all just easy in theory. The ignition lock assembly is on its way out on my car and I really don't want to have to go to the dealer on it and I don't necessarily want to bypass the immobilizer.

I just got a CEM download from an S80 so I'm going to start running through the code to see if I can find the Immo pin code. If so then the likelyhood to create a simple OBDII CAN cable interface and readout the CEM is looking better and may be a simple way to get the pin code.

End of the day, the remote loader makes all this moot so not sure if it's worth the effort....

Vida 2008C came with a J2534 test application that can be used to manually connect to a controller and send your own commands.
Response will be in the DiCE log file.

Yes this would be for Luckys tune, without me shipping both ECU cross country. In one of his PM to me he asked me if my spare ECU was cloned, so I assumed others could do that, like the dealer or possibly Speedtuning which is 30min from me. LIke I stated I'd prefer not to ship my original ECU "just in case" something happens to it. And if something did happen what would I have to do to get another ECU programed to my immobilizer?

Neu, my ecu came back and is installed into my car. WHAT A WONDERFULL DIFFERENCE. I dont care if fat albert is your next door neighbor(oliver) i would never ever use him again, you want a great running vehicle? You need ARD, with carlisle a few months away, maybe you can just do a tune on the fly at the show. i am so hapy with my car right now! you will too once you get the tune done.
