There's two NA 850s at my junkyard. One has obvious dealership timing job and OEM replacement parts on the motor. Could I pull the head from that and use its valves? If so, would hand lapping them into my current cylinder head create any seal problems with the valve seat?

But the valves should be okay. They don't need to be soaked in oil or anything. Assuming the head has seen normal wear and use, why wouldn't they be okay to reseat into my head?

Haha thanks , man. AZN? I used to collect Best Motoring International and Hot Version Japanese video magazines and a host on there was called "Dori Dori" meaning dirty old man. He was very dirty indeed lol.

I would just lap the valves into its own block. Or just get a valve job done at a machine shop.

If you just want the valves then yes

Yes, I want only a couple intake and exhaust valves. It's a non turbo car and just used for mild daily driving. So you believe I can lap the used valves into my head? I'm thinking I could use a micrometer to ensure they're are no tapering on the stems.

No, I wouldn't lap them into your head. I would get a machine shop to do it or just get the complete head from the junk yard. Also replace the valve stem seals!!!

Valve stem seals are being replaced for sure. Reason I'm sticking with my old head because it has only 15,000 miles on its rebuild: 3 angled seats, milled true. I'm going to snag the junkyard head and determine the condition of it.

Then get the valves and have the machine shop do a valve job on those.

They will regrind the seat and valve then lap them in. That will give you the best results.

..So why does it need three valves already?? Did you pop a belt and hit them?

Well, it needs only one exhuast valve, but after cleaning the unburnt due
And carbon build up it could prove to need more. Ignition system failed and the misfires didn't alert the driver because the check engine light was burnt out. She drove it for awhile while misfiring lol. I assume the build up caused a hot spot and burnt a piece of an exhuast valve. Check my other threads for pictures of it.
