Hello Volvospeed.

Hope everybody is doing well this new year, enjoying their S60s and what not. I have a bit of a problem that has developed over the past few months and was hoping to gather some ideas from other members as to what might be the root cause.

Basically I'm seeing water in the passenger's footwell after driving in very heavy rain. I had a few initial ideas why it might be happening but my remedies have proved fruitless. At first I though maybe it was because I removed the rubber molding from the edge of the firewall - I did this over the summer and didn't notice any problems until this fall, I haven't heard others mention anything about water getting in when they remove the molding so i don't think that's it.

Then I noticed that the drains on the wiper cowl were clogged one night after a big storm, lots of pine needles and seeds and junk had clogged the drains and the water was pooling on the cowl, looked like it might slosh down into the ventilation openings under certain conditions. I cleaned the drains and the water went right down, dried the carpets and thought everything was fine until yesterday.

Big rain storm, sat in traffic for a few hours last night and found the foot well wet again this morning.

So now what? Anybody else suffer from this? Recommendations/solutions?

I'd be very appreciative if anybody can point me in the right direction. I plan to look around a bit closer tonight, maybe pour some water on the windshield and see how it drains. I'll look under the dash cause that's where it's coming, maybe need some updated drain hose or something?

Remove the A pillar trim and inspect the sunroof drain hose. You'll also want to check for debris that may have caused a clog. My guess is the drain hose has come off. If so, but some new stuff from Volvo.

That sounds like a good idea, somebody over on SS mentioned sunroof drain but not where it was located. This is something that I can check tonight when I get home. Thanks very much!

i have the same exact problem. I had a similar amount of water one time and it was enough to fry my DSTC yaw sensor.its definitely coming from the sunroof drain, but i havent fixed it yet. does anyone know how to take off the A pillar trim piece? does it just snap off?

Yep, just start at the top and pull down. It'll be self explanatory after that.
