I was thinking of doing a simple and cheap upgrade for my 1997 850 GLT with the 2.4liter LPT engine.
I noticed that the T5 and the LPT both use the same injectors - Bosch Motronic 4.3.
I'd like to replace my 13G turbo with a low mileage used 15G turbo from a T5.
Does the ECU or exhaust need to be changed? or is this a simple swap?

It's a straightforward swap. Ideally you would get an ECU remap to take advantage of the bigger turbo but your car will still run fine with the 15G on the stock map.

thanks, i may do that this summer.
will the HP be equivalent to a T5, or would I need an ECU re-map to get there?
and curious, why did Volvo offer this engine with the 13G?

or another option!?
Buy a 16T and swap that into my '97 850R, move my 15G from my R into my GLT, and sell my 13G for $100.
Easy?

15G to 16T really isn't worth it.

If you can sell 13g turbos for 100 wow I want to know where!!!
15g or 16t with a T5/R ecu would give you more power then the HPT T5 since you have a LPT. Idono if you can go with a 4.4 98 ecu and do the AC mod. That would probably be even better.
Or just the 15g/16t with a ARD tune
I built an LPT 850 with a M56L, 16T, no cat, and a UK spec T5M ecu. It beat the pants off my stock 01 and 98 T5Ms that I currently have.
