Just like it says, want to know how to clear that dang service light in the dash on my 98 v70.

Its just annoying to see since I do all the service myself, so would be nice to know how to clear it (or reset it).

Thanks.

Go to the dealer or buy a reset tool online for about $150-200

Get a vagcom cable and volfcr.

About 15 bucks and you can do ALOT more then reset the service light.

I'd like to find a comprehensive FCR type system that runs as an iPhone app.
There are some generic OBD ll setups that bluetooth in to an iPhone, but I
haven't found anything Volvo specific, yet. Now that would sell around here.

1998 was the year that you cannot reset this service light using the odometer reset button.

Two options:

1. Remove the bulb.

2. Place a piece of black electrical tape over the bulb.
I cut a piece about 3/4" by 3/4" or so.
I placed it over the light 10 years ago and never miss it.
In fact, the light goes off after about 2 min or so.

Or wire in a serial wire (like early 850's with the fly lead) and clear the SRL that way.

Takes some schematic and wiring knowledge but not too tough really...

I did this on an early production 1998 S70 and it worked, couldn't believe they kept the functionality in there

I also have the OBDII tool for this if you want to borrow it, PM and I set you up.

I found the Draper tool for about $50 a few years back. Works for me.
Is the serial fix the "LED/momentary switch thorugh the OBD ll port" solution?
I think I have that diagram laying around someplace...Never tried it.

Def remove the bulb. It is useless anyway. And while you have the cluster out, swap the old incans for LEDs.

Haven't decided if I want to swap out the bulbs for LEDs yet. I am going to switch the interior lights, and door lights out though.
