Who was it with the RN engine at the last meet? I don't want to spend hours reading through all the speculation in the threads, I just want the bottom line. Which is the best year to get, and 2.3 or 2.4? What are needed "mods" to make it work, and maybe most importantly, will it pass CA smog with VVT disabled (since VVT is designed to reduce emissions)? My compression at 119k miles is down to 120 (at least it's even across all 5). For all I know it's been like this for some time, but I'm getting an 18T and checked the compression and got the disappointing news. Had it dynod a year or so ago and got 242WHP/303TQ, which were decent numbers for the mods I had on there, but haven't retested so not sure if it's declining or what, but I still like the idea of doing either a build or swapping in a low-mileage RN. Going RN seems a lot more economical than building up an earlier core.

They (VS) wax their cars? I thought the lastest craze was to wrap them in viynl so the paint is flat. At least thats what won the IPD show.

Is that what you have in, or what you have concluded would be best, or both? Care to briefly explain why (or cite supporting thread)?
