Does anyone know the exact differences between US and Euro 98-02 X70 headlights? Specifically which bulbs are used in the Euro ones and what the differences are in the reflector bowls. If you happen to have pics of some with the lenses off that would be even better.

Thanks!

As far as I know, the only difference is the fluted lens. The housings, reflectors and H7 bulbs should be the same.

DOT-spec jewels vs. European-spec jewels have different reflectors. According to Sylvannia's website, the US-spec jewels use H11 low beams and 9005 high beams. I'm not sure what/if the European-spec jewels used different bulbs.

JRL has a set of euro-spec jewels on his 00 R, so he'd be able to clarify any differences in bulb type.

I've searched both forums for quite a while. Came up with stuff on E-code lenses, but nothing on the rest of the housing, or any conclusive discussions on what bulbs are used. Do you happen to remember anything about the titles of the threads to help my search?

@andyb5, thanks, just need to find someone who has seen the european ones and can verify. Was hoping one of our European members would see this thread.

This would be one such thread. There is no difference in the stock euro spec or DOT housings and reflectors if you're looking at the 98-00 X70 headlights. The glass is only thing that is different. If you're talking about 03 jewels from the C70 then there is a difference.

And before you jump all over me telling me I'm wrong read the entire thread.

There's a slight difference between the 98-00 DOT and the Ecode reflectors. The Ecode has the 5w parking/running light. Some have added them to the DOT versions, I now Kurt did. But other then the light the reflector is the same.

I have the Ecode lens and they are the best bang for your buck for lighting upgrades. Then after you do that you can upgrade to HID if you want but the difference between Ecode and DOT is dramatic!

This is the only pic I was able to find qucik of the 5w light...
