You want HIDs with H3C bulbs. More expensive, but better light output as it mimics a stock H3 bulb.

H3C HID bulb on left. H3 HID bulb on right. The right one just does not work as well.

LED in fogs are useless. Save your money. Tried a few, all fail. HID is the way to go.

Great explanation! I've done my diligence as well and it seems H3C is quite convoluted with many manufacturers using this term incorrectly. The one above is the proper H3C HID Mini bulb, there's another variant around that looks more like something in between that I found.

Posted Image
From left to right: H3C HID Mini, H3C HID, H3 HID (Shortened), H3 HID Standard

Now the question is, is there a reputable seller that carries the above H3C HID Mini bulb? I'm also looking for new bulbs for my fogs. My prior bulbs were DDM H3 HID standard and they did not last long.

It's a bit pricy at $58 shipped for a pair of bulbs, but I chose to do it just because you get a better beam pattern. And yes, there are manufacturers that use the labels H3 and H3C interchangeably, so it becomes difficult trying to find them.

Here's a tid bit: I was looking to buy ~100+ units of these and for H3 bulbs my cost would be $1/each, for H3C bulbs, the cost would be $15/each (if not more).

I wonder if John (sharpHID) can get them? Either way, I'd be down if they were 30$ a set on a GB.

His come from DDM tuning, who get them from the suppliers I work with. Otherwise he gets them from the same suppliers.

I am looking into putting these into my S60R for FOGS, I have read good reviews from people who have installed them, reviews have stated the quality is better than cheaper chinese off brand hid conversion kits:

Going to give you a heads up on HID kits: They are all virtually the same. Just find a retailer that gives you warranty.

I'm suspect of aftermarket lamps of this sort. They look flimsy. I bought some Hella MicroDE's on the Hella rep, and recommendation of a few members here, and they literally disintegrated after only one winter here. Cheaply made junk, with poor materials, and not anywhere near the Volvo build standard.
I ended up buying a good used set of 850 original's, and with a kit from SharpHID, it's an excellent set-up.

Once again, OEM proves the winner.

SharpHID.com is John Sharp, a member here. You won't find one person on here who has had an issue with any of the top quality gear he sells. Lifetime warranty too. Why take a chance on anyone else?

OEM is definitely the best, however, TheRetrofitSource.com is excellent. Matt, the owner, is a very stand up guy with excellent customer service. Him and I have done wholesale business some months back and he's a very good person to deal with.
