Well my speedo was working about 5% of the time and my ODO 0%. So I ordered the kit, and replaced the broken gear. Both the speedo and ODO started working....ish

So if I'm just cruising around, lightly on the throttle, everything in hunky dorey. However; once I step on it, speedo drops to 0 and ODO stops rolling. If i turn off the car, than lightly cruise, its fine, but again once I step it... ZILCH!

I can only assume this would be a speed sensor. I've taken off the ones on the wheels and cleaned them, didn't seem to do much. Is there one on the tranny? Could they be shorting somehow?

Or is this my ABS mod?

I have searched and couldn't find anything similar.

Anyone know?

Its ur abs mod, i drove around half a year without my speedo, was just to lazy to grab a new module but once i did it was all good. But the tach is different, thats not part of the abs module

could also be your ABS sensor on the wheel. speedometer pulls speed off of the ABS sensors, and if one of them is fubared, it will read 0 speed. you MIGHT also get P0500, vehicle speed sensor

huh no codes. and like I said, as long as I am light on the throttle it works fine, but once I put my foot into it, it stops. I would usally just replace all of it, cause its gonna go at some point. But I'm trying to save some money right now.

you can definatly have a go at it, if u understand soldering and how to diagnose broken solders and wat not, but if not have it rebuild, definatly doesnt hurt thats for sure its also definatly cheaper to have a look at the abs unit first seeing as each wheel sensor is like 100$ too

i know Matty Moo has his abs service that you can look into, his rates are reasonable and what not too thats for sure

I thought 94-95 had speed sensors in the trans and 96-97 didn't.

I know for my manual swap my 95 with a 96 trans. The trans doesn't have a speed pickup but my 95 needs one.
