Found this switch at the local yard the other day. it was on a 98 v70 with limo tint.

The seats were already gone, but had wires leading to rear seat heaters and a wiring harness for this switch and the seat heaters (grabbed that too). It is the back panel for the center console....

So my question is did Volvo do factory rear heated seats as an option?
This panel and switch are defenitly from the factory along with the wiring harness (it is part of the exsisting harness for the front seat heaters).

I am considering putting rear heated seats in my car so im pretty happy i found this :)

Yes, that was a factory option, but extremely rare. I know Boston Coach had them on their fleet V70 GLTs, so its possible one of those made its way down near you.

I parted a 98 XC that had this option. I believe Vadis shows the relevant part numbers.

Each heating pad is $80 new so that get's expensive at 4X!

I just did this swap into my T5M last summer, pretty straight forward. Hope you grabbed the relay and harness as those are the two most important parts. The switch is just a regular heated seat switch with the clicker removed.

I've bought and sold 3 Boston Coach V70s
Rear heated seats were standard along with no moonroof.
Not sure if you could have ever ordered it as a retail buyer as I've NEVER seen one other than the BC wagons

The one I had was privatly owned with a factory third row. Unless Boston Coach only owned the car for 30-40K miles.

I mean factory heated seat haha... retard over here :arob:

Interesting ... mine could very well be one of these 'boston coach' v70 GLT's... no sunroof, heated rear seats, and power front psgr seat .. and it was a boston car/tradein .. probably traded in by the second owner ... what exactly is boston coach? limo service?

edit:
per old post from JRL;
They all came the same way, GLT's, no moonroofs, heated rear seats, Euro rails, dual power seats, no foglights but a trip computer and power passenger seat and no wood (black plastic only) dash and console trim.
Also, most had 3rd seats.

I have no trip computer or euro rails .. but everything else stated above .. hrmm... hafta see if my buddy can still get free carfax reports..

ohh, also mine had a sunroof, so that also rules out BC as the original origin.

Grabbed the relay and harness, made sure to get that. It will probably be the last thing I do on my build since I don't ever have to many passengers.....Virginia is humid as hell....and those heater grids are expensive.

Jealous! I would love these because you can see where even the rear armrest wood trim is outlined to have the plate possibly punched out. I haven't really riden in the back seat but it could be a game changer for that one cold winter night when some lucky lady comes back to your car and says in the words of Marvin Gaye, "Lets get it on" and you & her are blessed with the joy of a heated "car sofa"

When that "lucky" lady come along you just fold that seat flat.......gotta have some room, those back seats aren't that big.

OR..... you MacGiver that shit in a sedan back seat or you have learned how to not scare her thinking your about to stuff her in the trunk when your done because your in a sedan. plus the space limitation could put foot prints, hand prints, other things that come out etc etc etc to places un expected. It could be like a novel

I mean I get it but I'm only a bit over 5'9" tall and it works. unless your gettin down with some amazonian chicks or the female version of Yao Ming you can tackle in a sedan

As I said, the 98 XC I parted had this option. So either, Volvo made BC an XC (don't think so), a previous owner retrofitted the factory rear heater (don't think so), or it came as an available option.

Don't know about the difference in UK/USA markets, but my '98 v70 t5 cd has heated rear seats - so it must have been an option here.

They don't work though.... :(

It's not presented as an option in the Volvo accessories catalog...conclude what you will from that.

I wonder if the one I had was part of some overseas delivery program that Volvo does. Never bothered to look at ownership history on it.

It's a feature not available in the US. You had to order a car through the OSD program to get the package.

That's what I am thinking. Potentially someone bought overseas - i.e. military or diplomat or expat - and then at some point shipped it back.
