Just going to double check before i take out the heater fan.
I have a 1997 850 with ECC. I put my car into the garage and unplugged the battery. I plugged it back in the other day and drove it around. i moved the fan speed from "0" to about half speed. The fan didn't kick on and then the Ac and Recirc lights blinked for about 20 seconds. I have another 850, same year, with fully functional climate control and i plugged in the control unit from that car into my problem car and it did the same thing. I plugged that unit back into the other car and it worked fine. I checked the fuses that i thought could be a problem and none of them seem bad.
So, i think i have it down to being the heater fan being shot.
Any other suggestions, anything i could try before i take that thing out?
My Heater Fan Stopped Working.

Fan or power stage. The only other possibility is that your cabin air sensor with the little fan is acting up after getting filled with dust bunnies - the 850 has two of them. Do a search to find out where they are located.

Yea from what I've read when the 'power stage' goes it acts as it's open and will keep the fan running? I could be wrong. That's why I figured the fan motor is my problem. I did also notice that turning on the fan dims my lights quite significantly. So that kind of adds to the fan maybe being bad and pulling too much current.
And atefitty my fan doesn't work at anyspeed.
I'll keep that cabin sensor in mind I haven't seen anything about that in my searching for fixes, thanks for the help. Hopefully I get this fixed tomorrow!

You probably want to get that fan taken care of pretty quick.
It'll take the power stage before long. They almost always go
either open and provide no power or short out and pass full power.
Sometimes they seem to get funky, and do some really wierd things,
but it's usually one of those two deaths. All off or all on.
