So, I noticed after letting my car idle after about 30 minutes of in town driving it started up with a pretty heinous lifter tick. But after I got it back out on the highway and driving it through town and back to my house it wasn't there any more.
Also, I recently had the head gasket done on this car, along with timing belt, water pump, PCV system and heater core. For some reason, it smokes out of the dipstick, and I can see oil on the wiring harnesses in front of the dipstick tube. Is my car (that I just dumped a ton of money into) crapping out and dying? Or perhaps a nice seafoam treatment will save the day?
Thanks,
Chris

Did the PCV get done right? Also if you install a larger hose from the intake to te PTC that helps a ton!! But the PC. Needs to be done right!!
Also the lifter tick is probably the oil pan o-rings.

Forget the hose comment, I was thinking 94-98, not 99+.
Did they replace the main hose?

The main hose, meaning the one that comes up from under the intake to the valve cover?

As in cleaned PTC, replaced all parts and cleaned the block ports correctly.

Well, I know they replaced all the parts. I'd have to go ask if they cleaned the block. THe good news is that it will probably all come apart reasonably well since it was recently done.
As for the oil pan o-rings, I'm going to do a quick search for what that entails and I'll get back to you.

It will come apart just as easy as the first time. These vehicles don't have many issues with stock fasteners.
