I just noticed weird thing with my boost, I have IPD tcv valve and it wont give me more then 7-8psi, I just put my stock one and car pulled way harder holding it at 10-12 fading to 10. Any idea why? It always been like that since the day I bought the valve
Should I keep the stock or put ipd when I get it tuned?
Is there a way to test this valve?

Yea that's a known issue with their TCV's. Same thing happened with Nick's (94850tx) lazer blue. Toss it and get a Volvo one.

if you dont want to get a new one you can test out your old one by cleaning it out. i wanna say you can use simple tap water as all your cleaning out is the gunk that comes through the line that gets clogged in the valves/switches whatever the tcv is.

Although the Swedespeed links (in post) have good information, I disagree. I think the faster-response of the IPD TCV is good in the same way that WMI is good: it's a band-aid fix. The real problem is not just the hardware in the TCV but the controls and signalling of the TCV itself. IMHO it's still worthwhile.

That being said, I had an IPD TCV for about 2 years and it failed. I assumed since it was "heavy duty" that it would last longer (especially given higher performance) than OEM. After it broke I bought a used OEM one for $20 and have been using it for over a year. My original OEM TCV lasted for 5 years and never failed (I broke one of the stems when removing it to replace with the IPD one).

I don't plan on going back to the IPD one because it's so much more expensive, and the failure rate seems equivalent if not faster.

i figure it fails because its just an actuator that gets clogged up. if you were to regularly clean it out (lets say every oil change) i think ud be surprised with how much longer of a life expectancy you can get out of em

edit: though since it supposly reacts faster mayb this faster movement cant be supported by the shitty components the tcv is made out of?

once you understand what the tcv is mayb theres a better option other than bcs for us (not implying you dont know)? what do other vehicles use? i assume they control boost in a similar fashion?
