My aftermarket head unit was stolen out of my car a few months ago. It was fully working, no problems. It appears the person just pulled the old stereo out and left all of the wires in the car. I disconnect everything and hooked it up to my new head unit's wiring harness and now I have absolutely no power. I tested the new unit by putting the wires on the positive and negative on the battery and it powered on immediately. Does anyone have any suggestion on how I should troubleshoot this?I don't have a multi-meter right now but I have a feeling I should buy one.

Please let me know where to start. Thanks!

If you have a test light make sure that you have 12V at the wiring harness. You can also look on the packaging for the metra kits have color coded diagram on the back it shouldnt be that hard to figure out....

Check the fuses, might have shorted some wires and popped one when they yanked out the old Unit.

Yeah I shorted a fuse out on my s60 cutting a wire on my aftermarket headunit once. Its an easy fix just pop out the fuse and replace it.
