On my 98 v70 t5 w/ 112k miles. I will be replacing the throttle body with a 960 and also do both manifolds (new intake and R exhaust). While I was in there and had most of the big parts off I figured it would be a good time to replace the breather system and replace a few seals/gaskets (leaks a little oil). I will also be replacing the plastic intake pipes with silicone.

So besides the things above is there anything else I should consider replacing while I'm in there?
I am under the impression that the previous owner didnt do any maintenance as almost everything I've replaced is factory original and the fluids looked about 20k miles old at least...

This is my daily and I want to get another 150k out of it at least. Here's what I've already replaced...

Ignition system (from coil to plugs, all new. OEM plugs, Bosch cap/rotor, Ipd wires, MSD coil)
Air filter,
Fuel filter,
Fluid changes every 2800 miles,
power stearing fluid was flushed last month,
Tranny flush happening this spring.

Thanks.

Definitely do pcv, when was timing belt changed? I would clean everything up and do a complete stage zero. Sounds like you already have a good start though.

Not sure, I already planned on doing the belts...forgot to put that up there.

I also have a spare set of injectors I am going to send off to be cleaned and flowed.

Don't bother! You have better things to spend your money on then injectors.

Why does everyone think injectors are the root of all evil haha. It's almost the last part to even mess with.

See I agree with you that injectors are usually the last thing to go bad.......but as mentioned above I have no problems, I am just doing maintenance to ensure the vehicles longevity. I just want to be sure that the injectors are flowing evenly, I know that after 100,000 miles they aren't.

How do you know that?

In all of my years of doing this I have never seen one fail or cause even the slightest issue. Fuel is a solvent, just look into your intake ports and where te fuel hits...

Injectors go bad. The ones on my car never have, to my knowledge, but the indy mechanic in town here has seen more than one white block with burned exhaust valve due to clogged injector and running lean. And no codes.

If you had a clogged injector that was dumping fuel the O2 would pick that up. So I call total BS..

It could happen but it's highly unlikely and even more so at those miles. That's all I have to say, do whatever ya feel all warm and fuzzy inside over haha...

I agree that unless you use crappy fuel you should not ordinarily see a problem with fuel injectors. Yes occasionally one will fail but not often.

For a DD just dump some fuel system cleaner in there every now and again and be done with it.

I agree with you guys that failure is rare, I even +1'ed that it sounds like BS that there are no codes. Still, just sayin ...

The mechanic became aware of this several years back when someone brought in a DIY head swap that burned a valve in the same cylinder in the first couple thousand miles after the swap. The injector was clogged, no codes. So now he checks the injectors whenever he sees burned valves. And this guy is good and not prone to BS.

Is just like to remind everyone that I have no engine problems....I started this thread to make sure I wasnt missing anything that I should check or replace while I was doing my stage 0.

The only reason I am doing injectors Is because i have a spare set, and I just want everything to be cleaned/replaced so it last as long as possible.

2 things i noticed, why are u changing fluids so often? 2800 miles? Unnessary, my volvo has 400k KM i put synthetic in there and let it run for 10k kms, 6000 miles easy. Especially if your not beating on the car and its just a daily that seems just to often for me

You're right and wrong.

Yes synthetic can run for 10k+ miles. Thats what It was made for...

But, I am not running synthetic. I am running regular oil...which should be changed every 3k-4k....I choose to do mine early because i drive long distance trips monthly. (1k+ miles a trip).

Longger trips means longger OCI..

Even with dino, you can do 4-5k OCIs, no issue.

Doesn't really matter though as your going to do what you feel good ab

Another one of the paid only features.

Oh, and he said 10k+ kilometers, not miles, only 6k miles.

You've got it backwards there. Long trips = easy on the oil = change oil at normal intervals or longer. Short trips = change oil earlier.

I hope you take that back when you need help/info and VS helps you out. If nobody supported, VS wouldn't exist, defiantly not a "Total waste"

He's already said that the site is self supporting on ad revenue. The memberships are on top of what is needed to keep the site going. So... congrats on being wrong.
