It was raining overnight and when I started the engine it was hard to start and I really had to floor the gas pedal. it started then died. Started again and had to floor the pedal again, then nor problems driving it. I know the car is getting tired and old approaching 200k, but this is the first time this has happen. Was wondering if there's something that needs cleaning or adjusting to make starting the car easier. Thanks in advance.

No cleaning or adjustment...
You need to maintain it as in spark plugs, test wires, replace cap/rotor and see what codes are stored if there is a CEL

whenever mine ran rough on a very cold start, or after sitting for a little while when hot, it was always time to replace the spark plugs. Volvo OEM only.

The plugs were changed 5k ago and the wires, cap, and rotor about 33k ago. So maybe about time those need changing?

Could be a fuel issue, maybe the fuel pump is starting to go. Need to do a pressure check to confirm that. I've had to replace the fuel pressure regulator on one of our 850s and it fixed the slow start problem.

- Time for a cap/rotor
- what plugs did you use?
- do you have a CEL?

Yes, maybe it's time for a cap and rotor change.
I used Bosch platinum plugs. I've used the same ones for my last 3 changes (90k) and they work very well for me.
Didn't check CEL yet.
I think the problem occurs when it rains and sits more then a few days parked, so right now it's not a big issue.
Thanks all for the suggestions.

another 'possible' issue i had when the car was sitting was water in the gas tank? I had changed to a certain gas station, and noticed rough start-ups when the car sat for more than one day. Changed gas stations, and problem went away.
