Hello All,
I just got my hands on a set of 98 V70R Black Seats. actually got a parts R because a tree fell on it in a storm, totaling the car. tear.
I currently drive an 850 with non-electric, fabric seats, they're heated, but that's it.
I want to put the R seats in the my 850, but am not sure what is the easiest way to go about this...
I really don't want or need electric tilt seats... can i strip the leather off of the R seats and put it on my old seats without making a big deal of it?
any advice helps,
Josh

I think the foam might be different, not 100% sure though. Otherwise, you might be able to swap both foam and fabric, and then be fine.

Odds are that your 850 is pre-wired for power heated seats. Look under your existing seats for unused harnesses.
well this 850 is literally the bare bones base model with seat heaters special order installed (according to original paperwork that came with it)
I'm gonna look into swapping foam/leather onto the original manually operated seats. wish me luck.

But it should still be prewired. You will also have to add this little silver fuse/jumper to get power to it.

Yes, you can swap in the seats if they are from a 1998. I think it's easier to swap whole seats instead of messing with foam and skin changeovers. They will directly bolt in. The seat skins are NOT the same as standard 850 seats. As for prewiring, it's completely hit or miss. Everyone on VS swore my 98 S70 would be prewired for a power passenger seat and guess what? It wasn't. To get power, we jumpered the power from the seat heater (so the seat will only move if the heater button is pushed).
In summary:
1. Seat skin not direct fit with 850 seat
2. V70R seat completely interchangeable with 850 seat (if 1998)
3. You may be prewired, but if not, since you have power running to the heaters anyways you can always jump from there.

This had been extremely helpful. so i could just run power off of the heated seats... genius. omg. this is why i'm a newbie. anywhere i can figure for myself what wires to jump from. and since i have the plugs from the V70R itself, should i just take those and connect the ends of those wires to power for the seat heater?
these seats are gonna be kick ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD in my 850. i am shooting for middle of the road mods, still DD. but with influences from SDM and Rusty Slammington. I mean, it's gonna get a little rusty, but be one sick Manual NA 850. I hope.
Thanks a ton.

I could use some guidance on which wires. i'm assuming it'd be green/brown for pos and black for neg. but the elec seat has 4 wires going into it. i tried a direct connection from the pos/neg for seat heaters and connected it to what i thot was pos/neg in the elec seat electric input (white connector), this didnt work... what am i doing wrong? thanks again.

It's been a while, I honestly don't remember. All of the info is up here on the site though, do some searching and get handy with a multimeter and you should be able to figure it out. Ultimately, what you need to determine is which wire gets "hot" when the seat heater is activated. That is the wire you need to draw power from and make your splice.
