A lot of the wheels I've been looking at are staggered 17x8, 17x9. I was wondering if anyone has run, or knows of anyone who has run 9" wide wheels in the rear of an 850. I am not interested in x70's with 9" wide rear wheels because they have larger wheel wells. I'm hoping 9" wheels are a possibility without body work (beyond fender rolling).

Please post pics and any info you may have.

TIA

My wheels I have here are 16x9 in the rear, but I have yet to mount them.

I'm very interested in this also as I'm not sure what tire size to run.

I have 8j wheels all round on my 850 with 235/40/17 tyres, this was achieved with Arch rolling, there is not a lot of space left i am afraid to say, and i have never heard of anyone going any larger than this!

I stand corrected dude! :o

What size rubber do you have on there? they look very stretched, like a VW look? What size tyres could you get away on them rims with out chewing them up them? this would be interesting if we could get away running 9J on the rear

Cheers Greg

yup et 36 IIRC
205/40 so the small tire helps. If I could have found a 225/40 i would have done that but I didn't want a larger tire OD than stock. I'm still waiting on some suspension bits for the front but after they come in I plan to roll/trim the fenders

edit no spacers in that pic either.

Awesome dude! Can you post some pics of the rear close up and from a few different angles? What rear suspension are you running?

Now that I think about it, here's a couple more guys running wide rear wheels on their 850s...

Project_850 has some sweet iForgeds on his 855. Fronts are 215/40s on 18x8 +40, and 225/40s on 18x9.5 +30 in the rear.

I had rubbing with 225 so I figured 235 would rub as well. I'll burn through these tires and then look for something a bit wider. I have some traction issues  and wider should work haha

adam any specifics? I only have cell quality but lemme know, I have to replace my front hub soon anyways.

The thing is here in the USA you guys really go for the slammed look! i don't know my offset as well? surly that all comes in to play as well? I think its 37et If you look at my Avatar that is me giving it the some stick in the wet on track with 235 tires on! no rubbing issues at all!

i've got 8" wheels with 25mm spacers on the rear...but my fenders are custom

you'll have to fold the lip, and roll significantly to get 9" wheels on there...unless you're going to stretch some rubber bands.

Pras is right and I think all have rolled fenders with 9, 9.5 or 10 inch widths. If you do little 17s or tiny 16s with stretched tires, you may get away with no fender mods, but if you want something attractive in 18 or 19, then you will need stretched tires and rolled fenders. All are doable. Obviously with little 17s or teeny 16s, you will need to go way lower for it to look decent.

Just a bunch of general pics from different angles would be great. I want to see if I like the look before I go that route. Pics of fender clearance, brake caliper clearance, and from different angles around the car.

My setup would likely be 17x8 in front and 17x9 in rear, based on the wheels I'm looking at. Would run 215/45/17 all around.

You'll be alright, Adam.
