The other day, driving home from my parents house I get behind some guy driving his Porsche Carrera 4s like a grandma. There are a lot of trucker passing lanes, so when I get to one, I give it the gas and go around him. Although, when I get side by side with him he decides he doesn't like it and hits the gas. I already had momentum and was able to stay in front of him through the passing lane. So he proceeds to tailgate me for the next 15 miles.

Anyway, at some point he pulls some bonehead move and goes around me just before this 2 lane road turns into highway. Before it turns to highway you have to take a 90 degree turn, so I stick to him knowning he is going to punch it, I wanted to see how I would stack up against the 315 hp car. Sure as sh!t, he steps on it and so do I. I'm literally 5 feet from him drafting him and it was pretty even. He slows down moves over and lets me pull up next to him. He gives me the finger and then stomps it again. I do the same. Because I am not drafting him, from about 70-100 he gains a bit on me. So, being a nascar like loser, I move over and draft him up to about 110 or so, this allowed me to keep right up.

So, yes the Porsche was faster than me, but with some tactful(stupid?)driving, I was able to keep up.

I would love to do that, but Doug, you probably have another 100 more HP under the hood. Hmmmmm.....100 more HP, that would be interesting with FWD. blink.gif

Surprised he didn't walk away from you. Even 993s can pull from my car on the top end by what I'd call a decent amount (2-3ish car lengths 60-110)

He was pulling on me, so I just drafted him. That seemed to help a lot.

You were drafting and with your mods probably have a lot more HP than you were thinking at the moment (I'm assuming you were thinking "I'm in a 240hp Volvo"). It wasn't just the drafting that made you able to keep up. Drafting on the street is a real dumbshit thing to do though. In most states tailgating is a 5pt ticket you simply won't get out of if you were drafting off of a porsche. I hope you don't pull that stuff on the highway regularly.

Either way, good story. I had an experience with one of the dark black shittily painted ones a while back. Was pretty cool being able to *almost* keep up with a Porsche. smile.gif

No, this isn't something I do normally. He was seriously tailgating me, so I thought I would pay him the favor.

Good deal then. BTW, I was thinking (yeah, I know, again). A Carrera 4's big advantage on a modified 850 would be its under 2 second 0-30. After that it's not that much faster. I'm not sure what exactly the difference is between the 4 and the 4s atm (I think that just means it has AWD), but I don't believe there is any performance difference. Was it a cabrio, btw?

No it wasn't the cabrio, although I know someone with the cabrio. Anyway, the 4s has better brakes and better suspension than the 4, and yes its awd. The whole time I was messing with him we were between 50 - 110 mph. If it was from 0, he would have taken off on me like a raped ape. blink.gif

S=brakes and suspension from the 996TT. Along with the bodywork. A 4S should hand you your jerk at any speed though, assuming you mean a 996. I think even a 993 would be out of reach on your stock turbo. Anything that traps at 106 is quick all around, not just off the line.

Chuck I totally agree with you. I thought I was gonna get murdered. He did pull on me, but not like I thought he would. I just thought I would share.
