2. P 0722 Output shaft Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal,
3. P0733 Gear 3 Incorrect Ratio,
4. P0735 Gear 5 Incorrect Ratio,
5. P0785 Shift/timing Solenoid, <----------------??????
6. P0717 Turbine/Input Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal.

Engine side BUDGET IS $2000

Original engine have 214.xxx on it , run good, no smoke/shake/vibrations

I was torn to swap the engine as well to a newer 04-06 block or rebuilt the one that I have ???

I am gonna start the big search and read/print, meantime ANY Help/Link etc... WILL be GREAT!!!!

Please re-read what I said. I didn't say you will blow your ENGINE.

I'm saying your budget of 2000 to rebuild an engine is unrealistic.

iLOLed.

2000 on a mild rebuild of aftermarket rods, bearings headgasket all gaskets and new rings isnt exactly impossible...

if block is in ok enough condition just for re-ringing

Why bother with a rebuild though if your total budget is for 4000 (2000 for engine.) and you won't even be buying a new turbo.

Better off sticking that money with a lower mileage engine and just running that. Especially with the "If I blow it, I'll just replace it" mentality.

Figure out what your goals are for this build and that can go a long way to determining what path you choose engine wise.

Why not just go with a 5spd and a RN motor.

Unless the rest of the vehicle is in great mechanical condition?

Or sell it and buy a 01+ T5M or R

I was playing with the words, I know what you mean, I estimate around +/- 2K for the rebuild and you confirm that, Thanks.

This Block is just fine and I have another two around.

Just swap the engine is not much fun ,rebuild bring fun and different TURBO(later) but take also more time (I think that way and don't have much now) Any suggestion for a bigger turbo? Thanks.

I already have a 5sp and I miss my 98 V70R!

$2k on a basic engine refresh/rebuild? If you spend that much, you're doing it wrong (or dropping a car off at a shop and having them do it, then it might cost that much).

If you have a decent budget, and you're bothering to take it apart...do something special or worth while. Be one of the few to get a decently ported head (not just gasket matched...I'm talking O/S valves, narrow stems, bowl and port work). Then get some CAT cams. You'll be making 30+whp more than cars with the same bolt on parts as you.

I'd do that first, see how much money was left over, and decide on the rest after that. You'd likely have over $1G left. But that would be money well spent.

An M66 is way easier to find, given that no US market cars came with an M58

buy a good known low milage RN motor from a dismantler like lkq or keystone or any shop like that, you will spend 400-800 on a motor depending on milage, i got my 02 t5 motor with 120k for 500 bucks.

Dont open the motor, do the normal stage zero shit like the pcv system and drop the pan and clean the pick up tube and replace the orings, now pick up a decent 50 trim turbo for about 500 bucks, bolt it on with an adapter flange, have some oil and coolant lines made and drop it all in. Hit up lucky for an ard tune and call it good.
If your smart you could do that all for 2k, i know i could. of course i forgot the basic shit you also need like a fmic and an exhaust, thats all easy stuff tho.
An RN motor bone stock is good for some decent numbers, 350+whp which is more than enough to have some fun.

Everytime i see a thread like this it makes me want to pickup the first 850 i find with a blown motor and swap a bone stock rn motor into it with a 57trim and go dyno 350whp in a car that im into 3k :lol one of these days.

Yep', you right but I would love to swap the tranny as well!!! I found a real deal as low mileage 02 T5, the tranny is my first concern as nobody bet $ 0.1 on them no mater the mileage (JRL docet and others)

Like I said, RN motor and an M56!

Plenty of money left over for maintaince and other performance mods. Going too big on just one item will eat your budget for breakfast and not have any for lunch or dinner haha..

Op, if your serious about m66 swap pm me, i have one i can part with for a good price but depending on where you live shipping might rape you. I didnt catch that this is a v70r, definetly need to adress the slushbox before making 300+whp.
