One of my local customers here in Portland has expressed an interest in a kit that would allow use of an external wategate with a T3/T4 mounted to an R manifold. The kit would consist of integrated wategate plumbing and downpipe that could be bolted on to 5 bolt T3 turbine housings. The wastgate would be situated directly after the wastegate port on the turbine housing and would dump into the downpipe.

How much interest does VS have in a product like this? Please post any thoughts or comments to help me decide whether I want to pursue this project.

Thank you!

They (VS) wax their cars? I thought the lastest craze was to wrap them in viynl so the paint is flat. At least thats what won the IPD show.

I'd be more interested in a kit to easily adapt a t3/t4/gt turbo to our cars. I.e., oil lines, water lines, fittings, manifold to turbo adapter, etc.

If you sold something like that, I think there would probably be more interest in an external WG kit.

But I am interested either way. Any idea on cost? I predict something like this would be pretty expensive.

Why not just do this? It's cheap, reliable, and doesnt add any extra parts that take up space in the bay.

Adam, I've been thinking for a long time about doing a T3/T4/GT install kit like you mentioned. I think it would be a great product to offer the Volvo community so I plan to start work on something soon. My Portland customer decided to go for an internal gate after all, so the external gate idea would only happn as an option with a T3/T4/GT kit.

Ben, the first time I saw that I thought it was brilliant and I've thought about copying it. The only thing that concerns me is cracking, but that might not be an issue if the welding is done properly. I might contact you for more information when I actually get around to doing this.

Ry so far it has held up beautifully. No cracks or anything that I can see or hear. I did a close inspection when the turbo was off a few weeks ago as well. Let me know if I can help!
