Pull battery, relocate cruise control to the inner fender, determine how much of the battery tray you need to keep to hold battery, remove tray from car to sawzall off the excess and the lips that interfere with the battery sitting flat, drill holes in tray to mate with holes in battery bottom, replace tray and battery, then ziptie battery to tray or use an aftermarket generic battery hold down. You can keep your stock airbox doing it this way or use an aftermarket open air type box...I use IPD's SR5T and it fits perfect.

I relocated my cruise control to a box in my garage, tossed the battery tray in the trash and zip tied my battery sideways. Didn't cost a penny.

TB members would be proud.

Another fucking  s70: with Lots of zip-ties, a power antenna, and a bitchin shift knob... the only mods that matter.

I cut down the stock tray, rotated, added the pins back on the side to prevent the tray 'tipping'

Is anyone using a slimmer battery also? Or full/standard size? I'm using a slim one, but only lasts through a couple of winters.

Sounds like mine except I opted for a tie down strap out of the back of my roommates truck instead of a zip tie

i dont see why not? its so much less of a hassle to just move it and give you some space

instead of fubaring a mount, cuttign it shaving it to fit perpendicularly to what it was just remove it and call it a day

Seems like a lot more work to move it to the back to me. Well, to do it the right way at least.

Do you have it in a sealed box with drain and vents to the outside of the car, or did you just mount a battery tray in the wheel well and call it good?

nowhere does it state you NEED it in a sealed box with a drain and vents to the outside (OE wasn't even in a sealed box with a drain or vent's.....). the law states it has to be secured down so it doesnt fly all over the place, that's about it
however, no the wheel well is a quiet stupid idea.
i don't know if many people know this but trunks have vents in them anyways for w/e reason u would need a vent

here's a point to your vent/sealed box idea......bmw's have their battery's in the rear. exact spot as mine, but its embeded because bmw engineered the spot there for it, BUT the trunk carpet goes over top it and from what i saw there is absolutely no holes for any sort of draining or venting.

here's mine:

Most manufacturers with the batteries inside the car, do use vent and drain tubes for venting and for spills. The Red Top is completely sealed, no chance of venting or leaking if rolled over. That is probably the best choice. But for a regular lead acid battery with removable caps, they should be vented, in a box, with a drain hose.
