It seems that if you have a job with VCNA or have one of the more modified cars on the site, they let you be a moderator. Moderator status over there appears to be only loosely correlated with length of membership, how helpful you are or supportive of the site, or other criteria which you may expect would be associated with the position.
I think Alfred responded in absolutely the wrong way. I am skeptical that he is really able to separate his friendship with Henry from his role as moderator of the forum. Deleting posts bashing Henry's known customer service issues certainly doesn't look good - what other posts is he deleting? I'd guess almost none To his credit many of the posts that were deleted probably were irrelevant. I don't fault him for feeling the way he does - if one of my close friends was accused of screwing people I'd also rush to their defense - but outwardly it does not look good nor does it make it seem that moderators are unbiased when the moderator says "we don't say bad things about our vendors" and selectively deletes posts critical of his buddy's business.
Thanks Na-Game, you summed it up nicely for me. I'm not going to deny the fact that i'm inexperienced as a moderator and my way of handling the situation turned bad. I also made mistakes for removing posts whether they were irrelevant or not, as this leads to anger and outrage. People don't wake up being excellent at everything overnight, it takes failures and challenges.
Simply put, and i've said this before. Perhaps I am tainted by the simple friendship between Henry and I, we've met through the forums and through his business as a customer. CFWerks was at one point more reputable with many great products and had better customer service, and perhaps all this is the bias. Not because he's my friend but at one point contributed to the small Volvo community that we have here. However, at the end of the day, I do not know his personal dealings with his customers and I also respect others opinion about Henry and his business.
I'd like to see CFwerks back to what they once were, but that's in the hands of the owner and not me.
