I thought I had a thread discussing this, but cannot find it... EDIT, found it

Finally got around to cutting the hood & installing the Elevate vents. Set them as far back & out as is possible without compromising the inner framework.

Posted Image
took about 12 dremel cutting discs. Tried a angle grinder, but it burns the paint too much...
Posted Image

had to cut the inner lateral support

Posted Image

passenger side I drilled the tab holes before cutting, easier that way

Posted Image

Posted Image

both sides - just ordered 5 sheets of 18x32" Dynamat Extreme - don't want to put my crusty hood insulation back...

Posted Image

grilles installed - think I will have to remove & paint the lip - not sure I like the silver inner edge that's visible

The car doesn't even have an engine in it... Read above.

lol its still a legit question

yeah heavy rain he will have problems but knowing Hussein he has it all figured out. I have read some others keep the section of hood that was removed and make an insert to plug the hole in the rain...

I was under the impression the hood vents came with inserts for when it rains.

Looks great, Hussein,
Even with the "x" shape of intact support giving the hood strength, do you think you'll notice any movement or weakness in it with those lateral supports cut? Still stout?

Thanks guys.

No front shots, the bumper & lights are still off - it doesn't look like anything yet.

I have inserts, they don't come with, but I bought them for winter use. The vents being open in rain is not actually an issue, the water will simply run down the inner fenders & out the frame rail. There is nothing beneath them that water would impact.

I run my X1/9 with the engine cover rain tray completely removed - I used screening to keep debris out

Posted Image

the whole engine gets a bath whenever it rains, and that has an old fashioned distributor....

Posted Image

The lateral webs are more to control the crumple zones - the main "X" is uncompromised. I'm going to rebond the inner lattice to the outer skin anyway, but I'm not worried about it.

Cracking PC

Curious if anyone else has dealt with Elevate (I see they advertise on here) - they have been very poor at responding to calls or emails, to the point where I am very frustrated with them.

This is the problem:

none of the stud attachment points are perfectly flush/hidden to begin with, I can live with that, but the cracks in the PC are not acceptable.
