Hello all. My first post on this wonderful fountain of knowledge known as Volvospeed. Just been lurking up till now, but now I have a question I haven't been able to find a recent answer to. I've been looking around for a decent scan tool that will work on my 2000 V70. Specifically one that can get into the modules other than just the ECM. ABS, SRS, and so on and so forth. If I could find one with the whole bi-directional capability without putting me in the poor house for the next five years that would be great. I've been looking at this one... http://www.obd9.com/...dice-p-467.html but I have yet to find anywhere that actually says exactly what it's capabilities are, and what it won't do in comparison to the uber-expensive dealer level scan tool. I don't have my heart set on the PC based unit by any means, so any ideas you guys could throw my way would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. There are a number of posts here on VIDA/DICE clones, so do a search. Swedespeed.com also has a lot of information in their forums. This is the actual software that the dealer uses, on a cloned DICE unit. Basically you have the same diagnostics and information that a dealer has unless it requires a software download, which needs to be done through subscription. I've heard some have been able to use a 3 day subscription, but I've never tried it.

Appreciate the reply. I know there are other posts on this subject, but they didn't really give the cut and dry answer I was looking for. Yours did, so I appreciate your time. Looks like I'll be going with that DICE clone, since that's apparently the closest I'm going to come to a stealership box without having to take out a second mortgage on my house.

Keep us posted on how you like it. I'm looking to make sure it'll work on my '97 850 and my '06 S60R before I drop some coin.

I purchased a DICe thru ebay that was shipped from China. It works great with my PC loaded with VIDA. I went thru Ebay only because I was covered under their policy for protection. A month prior I bought via a Chinese web site and had difficulties in getting a refund as their unit did not function at all.

It won't for your 97.  99+ for VIDA.

I got mine through DHGate.com which is basically a China importer ebay.

Has anyone gone as far as to buy a short subscription from volvotechinfo.com and actually connect with them and download an etm uprade or any thing else, that's what we all really need to know.
DOES THE CHINA DICE CLONE ACTUALLY WORK OR NOT???????
i THINK THAT WOULD BE THE CAT'S --- IF IT DOES,I don't think volvo would mind as long as they are getting their subscription money. I personally am waiting for something serious enough to come up on one of my 4 volvo's to warrant a subscription, I'm told a 3 day with a new software disk sent to your home is approx. $115.00 for 3 day's got that from volvotechinfo. Please let's all try to stick together on this and pass as much info as possible back and forth , so no one spends unnecessary money, which I'm sure is hard earned for us all.

it won't work on any model before 1999, I already tried it on my 1995 volvo 850 that is set up with OBD2 from the factory, anything prior to 1999 is under the Vadis Program.
Always think positive, and try to learn at least one new thing everyday.
